Now you have my attention.

If they wanted to, they could do guaranteed contracts and allow for injury to remove money due from the cap total. But that costs a lot of money so they’ll never do it. It would also create a haves vs have nots situation we see in baseball where big market teams can buy their way out of mistakes the front office makes.
Interesting that they are saying that GB went after Taylor.
I assume they just offered Dillion straight up for him.
......
Not sure if this has been mentioned and I haven't seen it mentioned in the media but I am pretty sure this constitutes a holdout now that Taylor is on PUP.
IMO he shouldnt qualify for a year of service now. In other words he should be a RFA next offseason and NOT a UFA. Meaning the Colts should have the opportunity to tag and trade at a much lower value than the franchise tag. Be interesting to see how that plays out.
Is he technically holding out if he's on the PUP?
On the opposite end, what do you think Miami offered? Probably low-balled...Did y'all see the stories that the Colts asked Miami for Waddle straight up? I find that quite hilarious. The translation being, "JT, we are going to ask for the most outrageous shit and you aren't getting your wish."
this is the problem and reminds me that timing is everything.Taylor is pursuing a “top of the market” contract extension, according to Pelissero.
Likely yeah. I thought I saw something that included the guy they dealt to Dallas and a couple of throw-ins but I could be mistaken on that one. Either way, they weren't going to offer one of their key pieces. Their roster is good enough without Taylor and it just all depends on Tua staying healthy at this point. On the opposite end, what do you think Miami offered? Probably low-balled...
Taylor gets extension.
