Watching the local broadcast. They do an impromptu interview with Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. All they talk about is their contracts. Bennett is a free agent. Avril has one year left and wants a new contract. Hawks are already $8 million over with just 45 players under contract. Sherman, Earl Thomas, KJ Wright, Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Brandon Mebane, Red Bryant are all looking for contracts. This team is one and done. But even so, I'd still swap. They got the one at least.

I think they are around $3 million under for next year so i'm not sure where you are getting your info from. They will easily shed another $20 million with Rice, Miller, and Clemmons getting the axe. They will have some contract issues for sure, but Seattle can't do a damn thing with Wilson's and Wagner's contract next year even if they wanted too. Sherman and Thomas will probably eat up a ton of future cap space, so they will lose some good players. They will certainly continue to be a force next year and beyond, especially as well as they draft.

I'm curious to know how this plays out. Salary cap adds another dimension to maintaining a team. Ravens didn't make the playoffs this year with their loss of talent. I'm sure the Niners have their challenges as well.

2015 is going to be brutal for them. All talented teams have to go through this with the salary cap and free agency. The NFL does not want dominate dynasties.

Seattle will be the favorite next year. After that it'll be interesting to see how much money Wilson wants. He's gotta be looking for Flacco money right? How do you fit all those contract extensions on one team? Gonna be interesting.

They will be favorite but I never would put money on any team repeating. It hasn't happened in 20 years. Too much parity in the NFL and things that go right seem to turn the following year.

Most of the recent Superbowl winners have been one and done teams. The pats, steelers, giants, packers, and ravens had serious overhauls after their victories. The Seahawks won't have too much turnover in the offseason.

Team Needs & Roster Rankings - Offseason Low Down - Rotoworld.com

1. Seattle Seahawks

OL: Right tackle Breno Giacomini has been an average to below-average starter the past two-plus seasons, and his contract is up. Seattle employed a left guard rotation throughout 2013 as disappointing former first-round pick James Carpenter failed to nail down the job. Only LT Russell Okung and C Max Unger should enter the offseason as locked-in starters on the Seahawks' line.

WR: The Seahawks will release injured Sidney Rice, while Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin's contracts are both expiring. Baldwin is easy to retain on a second-round restricted tender, but Tate may opt to test the open market. Injury-riddled Percy Harvin has missed all but three of his teams' previous 25 games. Jermaine Kearse is best suited as a sub-package jump-ball specialist.

DE: Versatile stud Michael Bennett is headed for free agency, and 32-year-old Chris Clemons won't return on his $7.5 million scheduled base salary. As DC Dan Quinn's defense relies on up-front rotations to keep its pass rushers fresh, Seattle needs young legs to pair with promising Benson Mayowa behind RE Cliff Avril and LE Red Bryant. Bruce Irvin is now a full-time linebacker.

K: The Seahawks could solve this "team need" quickly by extending free agent Steven Hauschka, but GM John Schneider does business differently than the rest of the league. He's got a ton of critical offensive and defensive players to re-sign over the next two offseasons, and could let Hauschka see what the market offers before committing to the 28-year-old kicker. Hauschka has a 91.9% field goal rate over the past two seasons, so keeping him probably won't be cheap.

2. San Francisco 49ers

CB: 32-year-old slot corner Carlos Rogers ($6.6 million) will be a salary casualty and RCB Tarell Brown is a free agent. The 49ers aren't expected to tender restricted free agent Perrish Cox. That leaves Tramaine Brock and Chris Culliver as the only potential starters on the offseason roster, and Culliver is coming off an ACL tear. Cornerback is easily GM Trent Baalke's No. 1 priority.

WR: Anquan Boldin and Mario Manningham's contracts are up, leaving Michael Crabtree and rising sophomore Quinton Patton as San Francisco's only worthwhile wideouts. Crabtree enters a contract year and Patton caught three passes as a rookie. Colin Kaepernick's weapons shortage led to some rough patches in 2013. Re-signing 33-year-old Boldin would only be a short-term fix.

S: Eric Reid flashed star potential as a rookie, but the 49ers may lose reliable bookend Donte Whitner to free agency. The Niners' top internal replacement would be Craig Dahl, who's best suited for special teams and third-safety work. Re-signing Whitner would be most sensible, but perhaps not affordable. Going on age 29, this is likely Whitner's last chance at a huge pay day.

Who cares!

People that are interested in the future of our division? We have to play these guys twice a year, possibly 3 if we both make the playoffs.

Thanks for asking though.

I wouldn't either but the big difference is that they're pretty much bringing back the same roster. Maybe lose Tate/Baldwin but the D is the same.

Didn't realize Hauschka is a FA. It will be interesting to see what they do with him. I think he's pretty important for that team, though if Harvin can stay healthy, their offense may be better next year.

Even still, to win the Super Bowl, things have to fall your way and get lucky bounces. There is not a big difference between the NFC west teams and would add the Panthers. Alot of close games. Just seems those lucky bounces go the other way the following year. Injuries. Not to mention every other NFL team is gunning for you week in and week out.

They'll continue to be in the mix and contend if they draft well but this season is probably their peak since a lot of their talent is going to want to get paid and soon.

But tip your cap as they did cash it in and maximized their greatest chance at it.

They are just like the Ravens, built to win the big one for one season and then crumble due to the salary cap.

Red Bryant - DL - Seahawks

Seahawks LE Red Bryant currently has an $8.5 million cap number for 2014.

Working against Bryant is a $3 million roster bonus due on March 14. Bryant only played 488 snaps in 2013, offers next to nothing in terms of a pass rush, and turns 30 in April. The Seahawks are looking to clear as much cap space as possible with important players like DL Michael Bennett set to hit the open market next month.

Zach Miller - TE - Seahawks

Seahawks TE Zach Miller may be released or asked to take a pay cut.

The Seahawks are bumping up against the 2014 salary cap already and have several important players such as Golden Tate, RT Breno Giacomini, and CB Walter Thurmond set to become free agents next month. Miller posted a 33-387-5 line in 14 games last season and carries a $7 million cap number for 2014. Second-year TE Luke Willson is reportedly well regarded by Seattle and could be seen as a capable, cheaper replacement for Miller.

Golden Tate - WR - Seahawks

ESPN's Chris Mortensen stated on NFL Live Monday that free agent Golden Tate is "probably gonna be expendable" for the Seahawks.

Tate didn't quite make the leap the Seahawks anticipated in 2013, finishing with a 64-898-5 stat line while generally looking stretched as a No. 1 receiver. He'd be much better suited in a playmaking No. 2 role, ideally on a more wideout-friendly team with more passing volume. Tate is only 25 years old. His fantasy stock would rise in a location like Detroit, which needs a No. 2 wide receiver.

SIGN THAT MAN!!!

I've wanted him in SF for years. He's always been a pain in the Niners' ass.

DEs: JSmith, RayMac, Tank, Red Bryant, Dominique Easley (late 2nd???)
NTs: Dorsey, Ian Williams, Red Bryant

That would FINALLY be some great depth on the D-line. Keep 'em all fresh!
