He did not have a good game this week dude. If you can't see that, well really I don't expect that you can...

I would characterize it like this... He had a great 1st start, a good 2nd start and a mediocre/bad 3rd start. So yeah hopefully he can turn it around and have a good or great game against the Dolphins. If he has a bad game, more players are going to start second guessing the QB situation, and that's just bad news for the team going into the playoffs.

I didn't say he had a good game. I said he's been playing better than Alex Smith, who had also had poor showings this year. Or did we already forget Minnesota, Seattle and the Giants?

My problem here, and pardon my circular logic, is that we play the Patriots right after that. The reason they chose Kaep was because of games like this and the Giants games. So it would make sense to keep Kaep, whereas against Bills it might not have made a difference. And if we went back to Smith, it would be better now than after the Dolphins game because he could get out any rust. Rust is not a legitimate excuse, but people would use it if we lost to the Patriots with Smith in his first game back, in a game where we'd have a good chance to lose either way.

I totally agree with you. However that's getting ahead of things a bit... Kaep and the staff may come in next week and have an excellent game and dispell some doubts. I have my doubts, but I have a pretty good amount of faith in Harbaugh and Kaep is obviously his guy now, and from his point of view he's sticking with Kaep and expecting to win next week and would never look at it any other way than that. So there's really no helping the situation you're talking about.

Well if he didn't have a good game... Then... hopefully he can turn it around.

Funny I remember you whining for CK after each and every one of those games. Why do you have to turn everything into an Alex Smith debate?

I said I hope he turns it around because I want him to do well you obtuse knob. He is the future, Smith is good as gone - unless he miraculously gets his job back and wins the whole damn thing.

I'm behind Kaep, I have my doubts as any rational observer should. I'm pulling for him though, but he is trending down from his great game against the Bears. When a guy doesn't have a track record there are going to be some doubts that creep in when it looks like teams start to figure him out.

Smith has a track record with Harbaugh and it's a good one. So yeah Week 3 can be easily forgotten, and a bad bad game in Week 6 can be forgiven and a win against Seattle can be what? Can be frowned upon apparently? Smith has stepped up after each bad game he's had and played great.

Let's see if Kaep can.

+1. I'm sick of everyone calling us smith groupies of lovers just because we have concerns. They act like we hail smith. When we clearly have given praise to ck and understand smith liabilities.

It's like the moment we have concern they feel they can jump all over us. Ill admit myself as a smith fan. Great team guy who had been through it all. And I can see kap bringing the same if not more then smith. But as soon as we voice ort opinion we get bashed. We see both sides if the story.

Can we cut the crap!

Yeah, I think that there's a tendency on this board to turn most things into a Smith debate, it's like a bad relationship going over the same tired arguments, and I'm guilty of it too. The bottom line is that Kaep is Harbaugh's handpicked guy, that's not going to change barring some big meltdown that as 49er fans we should all dread, and I think it would be more fun to just debate Kaep's performance like we would any starting qb, instead of always comparing to Smith. I listened to Greg Cosell on KNBR yesterday and he thought Kaep played pretty well and chalked up the obvious things -- running out of bounds, the errant toss -- to young qb errors. He also mentioned his driving the 49ers for a score with the game tied and the crowd going nuts, the 50 yard run, the beautiful throws to Walker, and said if Walker catches the td pass, Akers makes the field goal, we're sitting here talking about a gritty win and how mentally tough he was.

Its such a tough decision. Kaepernick, based on his Chicago performance, should be starting but he has regressed with each subsequent game. There is a reason that Kaepernick was not named the starter out of camp and that is what worries me. What's done is done though and unless there is a complete melt down we gotta stick with him.
