Why did Disney call the suit "sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic"? I mean, what is that?

Rather than handling this behind closed doors - which Johannson would have been happy to do - Disney first dug in its heels and then Chapek decided to start a food fight with a major female talent.

On the surface, I tend to fall on ScarJo’s side of this fight (as ignorant as I am of the underlying facts), but how do you know she would have been happy to keep this quiet? That is quite a bias take, imho.

For all we know, Disney was constantly in touch with her team, making VERY generous offers to address her concerns. And for all we know, she was willing to hold the movie hostage in order to get a ridiculous payday.

We just don’t know.

I don’t tend to believe that was what happened, but I also don’t believe that ScarJo is a sweet little angel either.

I feel like what the Rock did with the two Jumanji movies is really impressive but you might be right. The Rock grossing $2 billion on 2 pretty average movies that dont generally do that well these days probably means he can carry a superhero movie.

I'm probably not as high on the Rock's acting chops as most, though. I see the Rock and Emily Blunt on a poster and Im immediately skeptical that theyll have chemistry, for example.

Her side says they never got a response when they heard about the release plan and wanted to renegotiate the contract. Disney's side is silent about it, which makes me think her side is right on that point.

I think at the heart is Disney replacing their head with a numbers-and-policies guy after years being run by a relationships guy.

How many times do you think they pushed this movie because of that clause in her contract? This movie has been delayed for release since COVID hit and theaters closed. It is starting to affect their Phase 5 or whatever of MCU. They needed to put it out and for it to make money. She can't stop an entire movie from being released because of that one clause.
