Sanchez was a liability and ultimately the reason they didn't win.

Hostetler was an expendable piece and not nearly as complete of a player as Wilson.

Dumb comparisons. Wilson has been one of the best QBs in the league since his rookie year. Sure, he has had great defenses, but to compare him to shitty QBs who needed to completely lean on their defenses in order to succeed is just weak, even for you.

Wilson is definitely a really good QB, but cant discount something very important

More than any QB in history, he lost his team a SB with one of/if not, the worst throw in SB history, if you consider game situation

And he absolutely lost the Seahawks the Carolina playoff game last season, which his absolutely dreadful play in the first half, that put them in a 31-0 hole

Considering those 2 factors, and the fact that he really did nothing special when they did win the SB, it has to be taken into account when measuring Wilson

Not really. He threw it where it needed to be, where every QB throws that pass. The DB went all in, 100% on the slant and jumped the route and got it. HUGE gamble and called the right play.

As for his "nothing special" in the SB? He converted nearly every 3rd down when his team was out there and Lynch was just getting nothing done. 5 scoring drives in his first 6 posessions all based on Russell Wilson moving the ball (12 carries for 14 yards for Lynch on those drives) really forced Denver to have to try and be super aggressive in that game which just imploded on them. Obviously a 2nd story behind how great the D was, but he played a great game there, especially with how that offensive line was putting them in bad situations...

Agree he had a bad game against Carolina, but not like we are bashing Montana for those utterly horrendous games vs. the Giants where he looked twice as bad. Players have bad playoff games, even the best. If you can't have one of those, then no QB is special.

Like when he came back from an 8 point deficit in the AFC Championship game, right?

No, Leading a receiver down by the goal line is NO-NO 101 for a QB.....That ball has to be on the body, or the back shoulder

It was a dreadful choke job..

And most great QB's dont make that throw even if that was the play call

The Wilson play has been poked and proded hundreds of times on here. Any particular that could be changed is kind of reaching outside of the playcall itself. It's nitpicky to say the very least.

Back shoulder? On a slant? Come on, man....

As far as the other two games you brought up. He's as much to blame for the Carolina loss as he is to credit for the SB win. The whole team was garbage the first half in Carolina. Lynch was the worst player on the field and really had no business playing in that game.

The Panthers first 3 scores (all TDs) were all the results of long drives against the Seahawks defense. Solely blaming Wilson for that loss is cheap and easy.

The back shoulder slant??? So Brady, Eli, Montana, Marino, Peyton have been doing it wrong all these years? Come on. I get that the play wouldn't have been picked if he didn't throw it where he was supposed to. Heck if the wideout had run ANY other route that would have been a wide open TD as the corner went 100% on the quick slant. But come on...

Report: Talk of Siemian as Broncos' starter 'legitimate'

"
This is a clear sign that Denver is not impressed by what it’s seen from Sanchez during off-season activities. And as it relates to Lynch, the expectation there has to be that he’s at least a year away from seeing the field in any real capacity.

Either way you spin it, the defending champs are in a less-than-enviable situation at the quarterback position with less than two weeks remaining until camp."

Discuss.....

That sounds like reckless speculation to me. I could just as easily say, "This is a clear sign that Denver is very impressed by what it's seen from Siemian during offseason activities."

Still, I think all of the talk about Siemian is just that, talk. It's pretty easy to look good in 7 on 7s when everyone's in shorts and no pads. I would expect the guy who's been in the system the longest to look the most crisp at that point. I still think the job is Sanchez's to lose, for better or for worse, and the preseason will bear that out.

And I also think the intention all along has been to sit Lynch for the year.

Would not be surprised if Siemian turns out better than expected. All draft writers said Lynch needs a year.....

Still "reckless speculation?

While I was wrong about Siemian starting, it still could be that Siemian was simply more impressive than expected.
