In an interview with Fox 13 Tampa last week, NHL hall of famer Phil Esposito—a member of the Bruins’ 1972 and 1970 Stanley Cup championship teams whose jersey hangs from the rafters at TD Garden—said he “could give one damn about Boston.”

“I don’t care about Boston,” Esposito told the local Fox affiliate. “Tampa Bay is my home. The Lightning are like my child. I gave birth to it. It took everything I had physically and probably mentally.”

favourite story from Espo's book:

Grapes went into a hotel room to tell Phil he was traded. Bobby Orr was in the room as well.
Espo says "Grapes, who am I traded to? if you tell me it's the Rangers, I'm going to jump out of that window"
Grapes says "Bobby, step away from the window"

I can kind of understand where he's coming from though.

He had to put up with a lot of shit during his first few years with the Lightning. Given what he had to go through, it's understandable that he would support Tampa in this series.

Was a bit surprised by him saying that he didn't care at all though.

I don't think he would feel that way if Boston was playing the Caps instead. He works for the Lightning now announcing their games right? No biggie.

I think it's just Phil being Phil...He shoots from the lip and always has done so and that's not going to change. Harry Sinden was GM of the Bruins when Phil played and Sinden is almost as bad to work with as Jeremy Jacobs.

/If Phil gets too far out of line, SeaBass will kick his ass
