How is "2014 AFC Finalist" more embarrassing than a division-winner banner right next to it?

I think the Seattle 12th man thing is annoying but only because I'm not a Seattle fan. The "12th man" thing invites the fan base to bond to the team more and from every measure of success, that's a plus. So it's like Ricky Bobby in Telledega Nights when he has to reluctantly admit to Cal that bunnies coming out on the track actually is a good idea.

That Colts one has to be tops on the facepalm list.

Why? People are making absolutely no sense with this one. Teams put division-winning banners up all the time, and that's a lesser accomplishment.

I think AFC finalist is worse than division champ. If you win a division, I don't consider it banner worthy personally, but at least you clinched something. A banner saying you lost the AFC championship but made it there is kinda lame. But, hey, Donovan McNabb is a highly decorated NFL QB by those standards.

Well it's not. There are 4 AFC division winners; there are 2 AFC finalists. And you can win a division with a 7-9 record.

How is "AFC finalist" any different than "Super Bowl finalist?" One is slightly better than the other, but they both lost.

I think most of us understand that a team that made it to the conference championship advanced further than most division champs. But that doesn't mean it is worth a banner to basically say, title game loser.

A Super Bowl loser at least won their conference and received a conference championship trophy.

Colts 2014 AFC Finalist LMFAO.

Don't understand why 12th man and 16-0 regular season flags are on the list. What's up with those? Seattle (outside of KC) hosts the most insane home field advantage because of the fans (I guess if Jacksonville had a 12th man flag then yes, put that on here) and going 16-0 in a regular season despite losing by a once in a lifetime catch in the SBOWL is still a crazy achievement.

2006 1st season sell out? How is that not #2 (or ahead of NE/Seattle)... lol, so basically mostly everyone is a bandwagoner in New Orleans. WHO DAT? Yah.... who dat... way to create a slogan that celebrates nobody on the face of the Earth caring about your team. Might be the dumbest slogan of all time :L

Then a division-winner banner is basically saying you're a wildcard or divisional-round loser, which is worse.

A Super Bowl loser at least won their conference and received a conference championship trophy.

And so that's slightly better than a AFC finalist, but it's still a loser.

This criticism of the Colts make absolutely zero sense.

So the Mets could hang a banner for best hamburgers? To me banners are for team accomplishments, but in the end it comes down to whatever that team and its fans want I guess. It's their stadium.

Are you high? The Seattle fans clearly help win Seattle games via noise. When the holy mother of **** does a hamburger do that?

Went right over your head like you are 3 feet tall. So Green Bay should put a banner up about the cold weather in Wisconsin??? if something helps your team to win it is reflected in the REAL banners that are put up. If the crowd noise or the weather helps to win then the results will be Division crowns, Super Bowls, etc. Those are your banners.

The best part of the "12th man" is its not even original, they literally rent it from Texas a&m. Any NFL team could just out bid seattle and have the "12th man", its a store bought tradition.

It's actually great for a College Team. It's the same mentality as putting on face paint or painting team letters on your chest. It's kind of silly when people well over the legal drinking age do it. Imagine a bidding War over the "12th Man" name? Luckily for Seattle I think their owner can probably put in a pretty nice bid to keep it.
