That would be cheaper than Mike Wallace's deal if I remember right with Miami. Yeah can't see him settling for less than what Mike Wallace made even if he was overpaid.

Wallace did get $60mil, but $27mil g...I think if the G money is up around $35 to $37 mil...AJ will take it, and be wise to do so. Great player but on the open market in the $12 to $15mil per range, the teams that might want a big time WR...WAS, BAL, PIT, SF, SEA, CAR are mostly cap strapped teams.

AJ & Julio are probably going to be pretty close in salary, and they might get more than Wallace, but I don't expect them to go much over $60mil.

If he doesn't settle for less, he'll have to wait three more seasons for a long-term deal. He'll play out the final year on a rookie deal, play out the 5th season on an option deal (only making the average of the top 25 receiver contracts) and then play out a year on the franchise tag (making top 10 money). That's a long time to wait for guaranteed cash and guaranteed years on a contract. How many receivers in this league go 6 straight seasons without getting injured?

Not many and like I said it is a nice bargaining chip for owners in if a player doesn't take a lower deal early then they take the risk of being paid pennies on the dollar for their talents at the risk of a season ending injury that drives down their cost anyway. Not quite what the players thought they were getting when signing the new CBA.

Leon Hall and Geno Atkins are two guys that are probably happy that they took a little less to sign early.

One of the things I would keep in mind with Green is that even though he's not getting paid like a top 5 pick prior to the new CBA, he's still getting paid.

His rookie contract was 4 yrs/19 million dollars. He probably has enough money that he can afford the gamble of waiting to test the market if the Bengals give him a lowball offer. The Bengals have some leverage, but not as much as they did with Atkins or Dunlap

This next contract will be Green's biggest of his career. I can't see him or his agent not maximizing it. I'd be shocked if he takes anything under 12.5 million a year, and on the open market I see his pricetag closer to 15 million

Calvin Johnson is making $16,207,143 a year, Green's agent will be shooting for that type of money.
Larry Fitzgerald is making $16,142,857
Percy Harvin makes $12,849,000

Green's agent is going to take an offer of 12.5 million a year and put it right in the shredder while he laughs at the Bengals for needing therapy. 15 might be right

If I were his agent, I'd be willing to sign a 4 year deal with a big bonus, but less overall money than top 5 receivers. You maximize the present earning potential and still put him in play for another FA contract before 30. Not sure the Bengals would have any interest in such a deal though.

If he's going to take 6 for 60 he might as well go to a contender.

Yeah, who wants to stay on a team that's been to the playoffs 3 years in a row, and still has a very young core of its players.

If his goal is to win you're well down the list.

A lot of time between now and then.

Making it to the dance is the biggest step. Once you are there, anything can happen.

With a possession receiver, I think an agent and player might be more likely to target a 3rd contract, but a WR who relies on their athleticism as much as Green would be better served with the 2nd contract as their big payday. Chad and Randy Moss were spent by their early 30s.

The Bengals have leverage. For the Bengals sake I hope they get a team friendly deal. But I think Green has legitimate leverage too. If the Bengals play their hand with the option year and franchise tag, the worst case scenario for Green is that he makes 6 years/ 32-38 million (ballpark guess) his first years in the league. If he survives that unscathed, he gets to test the market as an elite WR in the prime of his career.

So I think they can sign him for less than his worth on the open market, but I don't see a bargain deal

Because I'm speaking reality?

If he's going to take an absurdly cheap price, it will be for a much better QB and a much better franchise.

No more than I pretend that you're a quality poster.

Thanks for coming back around, though.

Ban this idiot from our board, please.

I'm pretty sure that there are strict rules that state you can't be banned for being retarded.

The last time this idiot was on our board he was trying to convince everyone that 100 bucks wouldn't get you into a preseason game at Foxboro..... That same 100 bought two quality seats to a playoff game.

Fail.

Yeah. Equal opportunity board posting for those less fortunate.
