Budd Dwyer was from Meadville, PA, the city in which I go to school. Recent developments in the ongoing investigation are pointing toward his innocence in the case. A student in my journalism class was doing his senior project on uncovering the other side of the story, and it turns out Dwyer was charged on very little basis and sources close to him said that he was absolutely crushed at the lack of trust in him that had manifested.

Truly a shame.

I was about 7 when this incident happened, luckily we didn't have the live feed in Oregon, but I remember it. Even at the time there was speculation that Dwyer was really just taking the fall for a much larger scandal. He was being made an example of. If it turns out that he is innocent that just adds salt into the wounds especially for his family that was devastated even to this day by that incident. Still doesn't excuse his behavior even if he was in pain and gave warning in advance. Just my opinion though.

I can see that and I wish them the best, but you can't erase his final actions. I'm all about justice and I hope that the truth reveals a story that clears the charges against him and results in some kind of positivity as a result of such a tragedy. Know what I mean?
