It came on the second effort by Spillman there. He is allowed to protect himself coming to a stop but once he continued running down the field he was still out of bounds.

I don't remember the NY Giants making a reasonable effort to get back in bounds in the NFC Title game. The guy that recovered Williams fumble nearly ran the whole time out of bounds. The point is that never gets called if you were pushed out.
