The next play, Stockton steals it, then gives to to Blue for the jam!
Blue is heating up.
Blue is heating up.
Yes, saw that. I decided that the video they're referring to, @ 6:51, was sampled. I asked in the YouTube comments, twice, to the author, whether it was sampled, and if so, from where. Never got a response.
BTW, I'm not sure if tagging the author's name in the YouTube comments sends an email to him/her specifically, but I tried anyways.
Ok, you said you liked the line. But what about the content of the clip, specifically the sequence of events?
Also, I'm watching game 5 of the 1976 Finals. Saw some of it yesterday, will finish it today.
I'm starting to think it's possible Musburger never said it. The only clue we have that its Musburger, is that Mark Heisler article.
But, listen to this sample at 6:51:
And now listen to Musburger in 1976, @ 2:20:
Just doesn't sound like the same person. Maybe in 4 years, his voice sounds different. But it can't sound that much different, right?
If the quote really was by him, it must have occurred 10-13 years later, as a studio host. I don't think voice changes < 10 years would really be that perceptible, at the adult age.
What do you think?
I, of course, liked it, but it was within the scope of a expected good play/sequence from him. If Ostertag did that, I'd be more surprised.
Watching Finals clips from 1983 - 1986, even though Musburger is only a studio host, it sounds a lot more like the voice from that 2004 Pistons sampled clip. I guess his voice needed some age to it.
The Musburger clips from the 1970s still sound too high pitched.
Yeah, I have been telling him since the 60s to lower his pitch of voice, but he wouldn't listen until it was too late. I told him if he didn't lower his voice sooner, it would be hard to match it up later. I resignedly told him if he was going to insist on having a higher pitch, he should continue it throughout his career for consistency and recognition sake.
