I would sign Major Wright to a 1 year deal and Nate Allen to a 3 year deal. We need alot of help and both would come cheaply. In all honesty, our starting FS and SS are not on this roster.

I am talking about next year. Thomas will need to easied into playing after coming back from a season ending injury. Rambo needs to improve significantly at this point.

Again, I think its hard for players to come back from significant injuries and alot of time it takes several games to get back in shape.

Gk... if the defense sucks again this year, then its a wasted year. Haslett gets fired, new DC comes in and likely a new system. At which point, it was a wasted year. Since we know the team wont give up on the offense, and in particular the QB, the best hope is that the defense and special teams improves or its simply a wasted year.

then its a waste of a season period. If they are not going to give him the talent to improve the defense, what was the point?? I think they fired the wrong side of the coaching staff. But we had to placate the "franchise". So it makes little sense now to waste another season and not actually improve the talent on the defense.

We cannot plan on Thomas being a starting safety, there are just too many unknowns between his injury and his experience. We need to find 2 starting safeties and if Thomas beats one of them out, great news. Im not overly thrilled with any of these remaining safeties except Clemons. It looks like we may be going into the draft with a huge hole that we need to fill. Not a good situation to be in.

Once again, are we supposed to wait 2 or 3 years for Thomas and Rambo to "develop" into starters? I know we are in a bit if are rebuilding mode, but add 2 or 3 starters in the secondary (in particularly at safety) and the D will be much better.

I am hoping at this point that Allen is doing a total slow play of this Free agency period, let the big names get signed to big contracts,there will be good (not great) players left and the FO can come in and swoop them up at a very reasonable price because there aren't as many takers. Supply and demand. Supply high = Price low.

You can't be willing to wait too long or all you'll get are throwaway scraps.You can't make chicken salad outta chickenshit. Hope they don't think you can.

No but you build a foundation through the draft.
You build a foundation with "the scraps" at low contracts.
Then you aren't tied to a player that came from another team and forced to throw away your draft picks that are supposed to be developed.
