Sabres played a great 1st period after starting off a bit slow, but the score is still 1-1.

I'm glad to see Giroux and Richards pressing a bit on the PK. Not irresponsible, but willing to take it to the other team's net, even shorthanded.
And how about JVR with a seeing eye shot - Miller didn't give him much to shoot at, and he took what was there, but that was a very near goal.

Flyers had the edge in the first ten minutes, and the Sabres countered with a stellar final ten. Second period should be a doozy.

Hey Sabres' fans - where has Gerbe been in this series? I'm picked him in my pool, but outside of that, I really like and cheer for the guy. He was so big in the last 1/4 of the season I figured he would be a X factor for Buffalo in the playoffs.
