So, #26 is in a category equal to teams ranked way lower, but #25 is in a category that is considered much higher.

Saban to Denver, or any other pro team? Not gonna happen. He's a college coach.
I agree. IMO, Saban wouldn't make a good pro coach. He is a very good college football coach and should stay at Bama.

I am NO fan of Bowden but, you can slice the schedules any way you want and Bowden will have played the tougher schedule. Not by much but still tougher and LONGER!

Well I liked Bowden for the most part and like I said before I wish he had came to Alabama because he wanted too, but our AD was too stupid at the time. They were all drunk on Bryant back then and were all worried about having something tied to him and blah blah stupid shit. He was a good coach no matter what.

I've bragged on their schedule in the past even as an example for what Boise St needs to do.

I don't know either way, but seems Alabama would have an edge in todays SEC + a good OOC opponent usually. I'm just saying the methods being used don't really show anything. And Alabama according to many services has routinely had pretty high sos rankings so I'm not sure that the schedule was tougher. It could be a case of tougher schedules in the past than the present due to trying to look good for the polls.

It's like if you are using a formula, you can't use hard rank numbers as values for sos. Otherwise, #1 is worth twice as much as #2. And #10 is worth twice as much as #20, etc. When often times the actual difference between the 2 ranking wise can be extremely minor. Any formula doing such logic is going to end up with terrible results. And that is similar to your groupings where #25 is worth way more in value than #26. Just isn't a good logical look at the data.

with a 15-17 NFL record on his resume, college is where it's at for him.

Pete Carroll had limited NFL success before he went back to the college ranks at USC. Then he went back and won a Super Bowl.

Never say never.

I have never heard or seen once on the SportsHoopla as tOSU being UNDERRATED. Almost everyone was saying tOSU was overrated. You may be the first to ever use underrated and tOSU in the same sentence.:suds:

The underrated is referring to an after the fact situation, one that is known now. Obviously underrated. BEFORE the game overrated was used. AFTER the game underrated would be the proper word! Get it yet? :L

Pete Carroll was 33-31 in his time as coach with the Jets and Pats. Not too shabby.

Carroll was actually 34-33, but still a good record for a NFL coach. Although I don't think that is a heck of a lot better than 15-17, especially when the second year of his coaching in Miami was plagued with some key injuries IIRC.

belcherboy Not to be picky, but Pete Carroll was 33-31 as a coach with the Jets and Pats. 1994 he was 6-10 with the Jets, in 1997 he was 10-6 with the Pats, 1998, 9-7 with the Pats and 1999 8-8 with the Pats.

So playoff games don't count on your record as a coach?

hes definitely a college coach-

Alabama only limit to getting "first round picks" outta high school is their # of scholarships-in the NFL each team only gets 1 first rounder...

You're right, I didn't take into consideration, Pete's playoff wins and losses.

I only knew it because Colin Cowherd was talking about how Pete was one game above .500 in the NFL before going to USC.
