Good job

He threw for 385 at Atlanta in the Seahawks' playoffs loss last year

He threw for 320 (and only ran for 7) on the Panthers in game 1 this year

Threw for 310 and ran for 47 on Saints tonight on MNF

Monster game for Wilson. Congrats

Brees is #2 all-time with 80 games throwing for 300. P Manning is #1 with 90, and he is several years older than Brees. #3 is Marino with 67

Wilson has certainly made me eat quite a bit of crow. I didn't expect anything from him out of college.

It's ok. Should be expected from a run first offense. Wilson is only going to get better.

Russell Wilson, on his idol Drew Brees:

“(while at Purdue, Brees) was just
killing teams. So that’s when I really started
watching Drew Brees.”
From that point, Brees became a focal point for
Wilson, one of a small group of quarterbacks,
including Peyton Manning, who were role models
in his formative years.
Wilson read Brees’ book, “Coming Back Stronger:
Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity” –
twice. He studied Brees in action, both on the
field and in interviews, absorbing every nuance
and nugget. He noticed that they had a similar
throwing style and nearly identical footwork,
making him a perfect subject to study.
And then, finally, at last year’s Pro Bowl in
Honolulu, Wilson finally had the opportunity to
meet Brees, a teammate on the NFC squad. He
wasn’t about to let the moment pass without
soaking up every bit of knowledge and insight he
could.
“I’m sure he kind of puppy-dogged him around
the hotel,’’ joked Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
Except it kind of wasn’t a joke. Wilson
acknowledged that he paid particular attention to
Brees’s preparation, approach, and the way he
carried himself.
“When you meet him, he’s just so poised,’’ Wilson
said. “He’s so patient, he’s so understanding, but
he also has a sense of urgency about everything
he does.”

Other than for all the fantasy football players out there, this thread just further proves how utterly meaningless most of the big stats thrown around are. The game, on the field, is about winning and losing and is a team effort. Hell, Romo had that huge game against Denver and it means absolute shit in the bottom line. I could care less whether Russell Wilson throws for 300 or 150 as long as the team puts a W on the board. The same goes for Marshawns YPC. Get me 3 and beat up the defense so we win and I'm fine with that.

Wilson doesn't have very many 300+ yard games because he doesn't throw a lot (relative to the rest of the league). He's thrown 30+ passes in only four games this year (with a high of 33). Even last year, he had only three 30+ attempt games. It's not like Wilson's throwing short passes. He averaged 7.9 Y/A last year (4th in the league) and he's averaging 8.8 Y/A this year (tied for 2nd with Rodgers, Foles is 1st at 9.1).

Stafford averages over 300 Y/G over the last 3 years, but he's led the NFL in pass attempts two years in a row (including setting an all time record last year at 727). He currently leads the league in attempts this year at 500 (Matt Ryan is 2nd at 490). His Y/A over the last three seasons is 7.1, which isn't even near the top.

With Lynch you don't have to throw it as much,a very balanced offense and the best D in the NFL that was put together for the pocket passer QB's out there.

Really? I thought he was spectacular at NC State and Whisky, just his height was the ? for the NFL. I though Carroll was crazy starting him over Flynn, but guess that's why I'm not coaching. Harbaraugh's move in SF with Kap over Smith is still in ? for me. Time will tell
