It's not the overall number of fumbles. More importantly it's when he fumbles. He tends to do it at critical points in a game or when the team is steamrolling after a bad start. Those bad timing fumbles highlight a problem.
You know that Belichiock and Ivan Fears have done what they can to ebb the flow, what has Ridley done? Has he worked on positioning the ball close to his body? Has he adopted a crossover plan that puts his left hand and fore arm over the ball? Has he done specific weight work to strengthen the right hand and arm?
From what I've gleaned in this preseason, Ridley doesn't appear to have made any significant progress. This is a contract year and if he gives it up even three times, it's going to cost him dearly.
