Savard signed a 7 year extension with a cap hit somewhere between 4 and 4.2. I have one site saying 4.2 and another saying 4.007. Wheeler is a RFA on July 1.

Not sure the Bruins should be jettisoning proven talent right now, unless they have decided to go into a full-on rebuild.

It is kind of curious, isn't it? I guess with Seguin coming and Bergeron, Krejci and Sobotka already up the middle, Savard becomes expendable. I guess.

geez - I'd take savard in a heart beat.
wonder if 25th pick is first-roundy enough for them :D
(if pressed, I'd throw in the 55th pick, too)

though i think the deal wouldn't be bad for CBUS. i mean...imagine savvy and nash together? that'd be pretty sweet.

Savard is a legit first line center, Bergeron... COULD be, but he's very injury prone and can play wing exceptionally well. It just seems like a weird deal considering the B's scoring woes. Maybe if they were able to unload Thomas in the deal, I could see it working for the B's.

very interesting.. kind of a weird move for a team that is very competitive already, and adding a superstar

what's weird to me about this is that the bruins could be a FORCE next year with the lineup they have combined with what is sure to be a future star in 'Segall' (heh heh, Segal.), so why in the WORLD would you trade a proven center that's arguably the best play maker in the game (top 3 easily) for what is more second tier talent after the first 2 picks in the draft. they really don't need a rebuild, honestly most of their team just under-achieved in the goal scoring dept.

In a nutshell, the Bruins want draft picks (4th overall and maybe 15th overall) and they're willing to part with Marc Savard and Blake Wheeler.

Rumor: Boston to trade Wheeler, Savard to Columbus for 4th overall pick - ProHockeyTalk - Hockey - NBC Sports

Seriously?

Huselius - Savard - Nash
Umberger - Brassard - Vermette
Wheeler - Pahlsson - Voracek

With Murray, Mayorov, Clark, Blunden and Dorsett along for the ride?

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Could be a pretty fun team to watch...
