Lightning GM Steve Yzerman has let teams know that Tom Pyatt and Keith Aulie are available.

Morning Rumors: Panthers, Sabres, Avs, Capitals, Flames, Leafs, Lightning, Blue Jackets, Oilers and Hurricanes | My NHL Trade Rumors.com

I don't know about trading Pyatt. I like Pyatt as a depth player who can fill in when needed but he and Aulie seems to be the odd men out. It sounds the will be put through waivers if cannot be traded. With Pyatt on the block, i think this is good news for Kucherov and Brown who look like they are going to be kept around.

I also think it's time for Yzerman to look at the trade market for a defenseman. I really hope Yzerman targets Andy MacDonald of the Isles. He's a UFA at the end of the year but he's a guy who i'd like to keep longer than just this year. MacDonald whose more of a puckmover if anything but I think we could use another poised puck moving guy who can get us out of trouble when needed. He's also decent in his own zone, a very good shot blocker, he plays all situations, i guess he's kinda like a Matt Carle. He's probably one of the most underrated players in the NHL. I was thinking perhaps Barberio and another mid prospect like Tanner Richard, Brain Hart or Adam Wilcox for Andy MacDonald. The Bolts need to add to this blueline, Hedman, MacDonald, Gudas, Carle, Salo, Brewer with Sustr or Cote as the 7 D makes for a decent and more improved blueline.

ya I don't see us getting much for pyatt or aulie. Yes I would like to add macdonald thats what we need to do! but will yzerman go after a rental ? I think barberio is going to stay around yzerman has high hopes for him and so does cooper.

Barberio is able to pass the puck BEFORE he gets hemmed in his own end. I like his speed and puck passing ability. Remember last year we were all yelling to get rid of Brewer, he seems to be playing better this year.

I too like Barberio but i'm trying to think what the Isles would want in return as fair value and I imagine they'd want Barbs or Sustr as well as another mid prospect, at the end of the day Andy MacDonald is their best defenseman so I imagine they are going to want something decent in return. I'd be against moving Sustr his size and reach is somert you can't buy and he's a righty shot. Considering how quickly he's developed and adapted from college is pretty impressive. I like Barberio but I don't see top 4 potential in him, i'm sorry. I think he's better suited as a # 5 or # 6 defenseman.

As for MacDonald is a UFA but I think you could re-sign him at a reasonable price. I think he'd only improve and deepen your blueline and then MacDonald could replace Salo spot alongside Hedman for the upcoming years.

I don't think they're getting anything for Tom Pyatt or Keith Aulie - might as well keep them

I agree with Cobie, that's like hanging a half a baby carrot in front of a donkey & expecting it to move.

brewer has been better this year for sure! not sure what his deal was last year maybe cooper's system has worked better for him.
