Franco also hit his 4th HR of the year. Franco can't hit right handed pitching and that is going to hold him back. Both he and Ruf are still trying to find their swing.
Maikel "James" Franco has 33 games at 3B and only 8 at first. That's bullshit. I've fallen in love with Asche, and expect him to be the starting third baseman for some time to come. At the least, he could platoon with Howard (and possibly Asche against a tough lefty) in 2015 and maybe by 2016 Sandberg will be smart enough to just swallow Ruben's pride and start Franco regularly over Howard. I can't see that happening this year or next, but assuming Howard doesn't produce the numbers he did in 2010 or 2011 in this year or the next, it is possible the Phillies are willing to sit him in the last year of his contract.
Looking ahead to 2016, we have a chance to have a really good homegrown infield.
Franco- 1B
Hernandez- 2B
Crawford- SS
Asche- 3B
Of course, a ton of shit can change, but this sounds like a great place to start. Speed and solid defense up the middle, and some power on the corners. Possibly Perkins and Dugan in the corners in the outfield.
Yep, Number One. I think he has turned a corner and I totally agree he'll be the starting third baseman and take his place in the long line of Phillies third baseman greats.
