Myers won ROY in a particularly down year. Even then there are a ton of stiffs who also won ROY over the years. Royals fans might remember Bob Hamelin, perhaps? Myers is a league-average bat who plays terrible defense. That's why they Rays were happy to ship him out.

Yes, I also remember Angel Berroa
Myers was always a bat first guy
Played catcher in HS
moved to OF to fast track his bat. Experimented at 3b and CF in AAA.
Probably a 1b or DH in the future

Oh, the grammar police are here! This should be fresh and exciting!
i was being silly with my question.

i rarely even use capital letters on here and pay little attention to spelling and most other grammar stuff.

Ok. Then we are all in agreement that shitty players can/do win ROY and Minor league player of the year.

Myers took a HUGE step back last year in his development. I was onboard prior to that.

and remember Swihart could easily crash and burn as well, many a catchers have, especially offensively.

prospect hype is almost always better than reality. Hosmer and Moose crushed the minor leagues, Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber (the actual top ranked catcher in the minors right now) might be the next over hyped.

but you can't compare a hype prospect against someone who has been in the majors for a few seasons, complete apples to oranges.

Yeah, but Wil Myers sucks. Everyone seems to think Swihart is the best catching prospect in MLB. All that said, the Red Sox will address the pitching at some point. I think they would call up Owens or Rodriguez first to try and fix it. I don't think they want Hamels all that much. They certainly don't want to give up top prospects AND $100m for him. That is for sure.

Wil Myers doesn't suck.

I don't think Swihart is the best catching prospect in MLB.

He's the best catching prospect with a close proximity to MLB, but I bet I'm not the only one that if given the chance to pick a minor league catcher would take someone other than Swihart.

This is no surprise to people who watched them last season. They have a lot of nice pieces and that bullpen already was the best in MLB.

I keep seeing this. The Royals' bullpen's ERA ranked 10th in MLB last year and 5th in the AL. What am I missing?

I would average out the ERA pitched by Herrera, Davis, and Holland; then it's pretty easy to figure out. It's around 1.2 if I recall.

5th in FIP even so. When it's high leverage guys, they dominated. Low leverage? Pretty uninspiring.
