This makes e feel a little better about myself.
Beatriz Recari’s whiff with a driver is the latest example of how tough golf can be—even for tour pros
I've never whiffed off the tee, but I have done this.

I agree 100%.
To keep play moving, putts inside the leather on the putter are conceded, no "that's good" needed. We cap you at dbl par. Aside from that, we play it down...divots, play it as it lies. If it looks like you're heading OB, hit a provisional...if you're heading towards red stakes...particular attention is paid to where your ball is crossing the hazard margin.
When we (myself and two regulars) played the Frog...we played in our host's points/skin's game...they do "two off the 1st", "roll it" in the fairway, score is capped at your handicap ESC. He's pretty player, but on one hole he hit one sideways off the tee, 3rd in play, 4th in the water, blah, blah...he gets on the green and picks up..."7" he says...he was lying 8 on the green we thought....anyway, I can see now how these guys are posting so many sub 80 rounds and they didn't seem to swing it much better than us.
Well...I told him after the round, looking forward to having you up on our side of town, but some of the rules are different from how you guys play...the money game is simple...$5 on the front, $5 on the back, $5 overall, low score wins, 1 tie, all tie on any side.
No two off the 1st, no preferred lies, dbl par pickup, you can adjust for ESC to post after the round.
No two off the 1st, no preferred lies
You'll kill that guy if he doesn't get those crutches. Improving your lie is one of the most advantageous cheats there is...and it all extends to gimmies. Caveat on my post above - of course when it's hanging on the edge 6 inches away that's conceded by someone in the group. When it's 12 inches the same, but when we get out to 20+ inches with a side hill curl, we putt those out. It's unspoken among us but come on, isn't it a very rare occurrence that there's much confusion about whether a bloke is certain to hole out?
played 9 on Friday, first time in a while and a course I only get on a couple times a year. Shot a 41, which I guess I am happy with. The course felt short though. I should have been under 40
I'm happy with any low scores.
My cousin out in Colo played course that I've played with him several times and he broke 90 last week (not the norm for him when I play with him) and he gave me the caveat...'but we played the white tees'.
I'm like...well what's wrong with that? 'it was shorter'....I said, to be honest, you probably should play the white tees more often then because you rarely ever break 90 from the blue tees. FWIW...I go by the slope rating more so the length. Yesterday the blue tee was only 6138, but the slope was 137.
I always play from the whites. A mans got to know his limitations.
So playing my buddy's course turned into a lesson on how spoiled I am! Fucking 5 hours in the sweltering heat...then rain....then heat....rain....waited literally on every shot the entire 18. They didn't have water enough and when I finally got to a cooler on #15, it was empty. Fuck, anyway shot an 87 with a snowman on that 15th. Beautiful and fun course so I def want to go back. We at least should have taken carts and not walked the 18.
Headed to the course with the intention of hitting the driving range. But it's a beautiful day and the back nine had an opening.
Tried to focus on taking a smooth swing and not try to over power the ball. Also focused on staying relaxed waiting for all the idiots on the course to speed up play.
I managed to do both. Swinging easier allowed me to finish tall and make better contact.
Had my best nine on the back ever, shot a 38, should have given myself a gimme that was within 8 inches, instead I lipped out. Missed a couple of other putts that i usually make, but for now I'll forget about those and be happy with the 38.
Felt different playing earlier in the day, wasn't tired from yard work and from going to the gym..maybe that's the secret.

Congrats,
That's one of those days when you probably would like to have gotten the other 9 in! Two great keys you had going there.
