Ignoring the insults...

To me this will always be the "From Peyton to Paxton" draft. Of course that could have multiple meanings depending on the outcome of Lynch's career. But I'm hopeful!

According to Renck, the Broncos had Wentz with the highest grade - and had Lynch with the same grade as Goff. That will be interesting to watch the three of them develop.

I love the pick for the following reasons:

1) Lynch is better than Oz was when drafted
2) Lynch got better every year of college ball.
3) Lynch took a bad team and made them good
4) He has escapability - keeps his eyes downfield - can throw with touch or pace.
5) He loves the game of football.

It will be, but it'll be hard to make apples-apples comparisons. Goff will be thrown to the Wolves in the NFC West, where he'll play stout Arizona and Seattle defenses 4 times a year. He was drafted onto a team desperate enough to mortgage the future to trade into the #1 spot for him. Oh, and those NFC West defenses...Good luck, kid. Lynch will almost certainly not play any meaningful regular season snaps this year. He is entering an NFL environment enviable for any QB. Sure, there is a lot of change on the horizon with next year's FA list long and distinguished, but Elway has proven his ability to stabilize this roster in a challenging era. Wentz is somewhere in the middle. The Eagles have a better QB situation than the Rams, so Wentz doesn't have to be thrown to the Wolves, but the Eagles are a borderline dysfunctional franchise right now. Oh, and that coach they hired, an Andy Reid disciple, may not be the best mentor to a young QB in terms of overall philosophy.

So we'll see.

Right now it definitely appears Lynch is in the best situation of the three. It'll be interesting to see how well these guys fare in the next few years.

If Lynch hits, his late 1st round salary will propel this team for many years to come.

I heard a rumor the Patriots tried to trade up to #1 to get him. ;)

Doc Cyanide was pretty quiet after the pick, but he was just relieved we didn't take Connor Cook.

Things I like about Lynch: Strong arm, mobile that combination right there is always fun to work with. Total opposite of what we had with Manning, so that part will be a nice change of pace for us. WR's love playing with strong arm QB's and they are fun to watch. Be nice having someone who doesn't fall down right away. All due respect to what Peyton brought to our team.

Things I dislike- He is far off, he has a lot of growing to do, but he can easily do that and is in a great situation to do so here. We don't need him to come in and play hero from day 1. I also don't feel he has proved to be a great reader of the defense and he played in a pretty easy scheme in terms of having to read the defense. Thus the "growing and "learning" period.

But there is no question he has all the tools to be a great NFL QB. I also feel character wise the vibe I get that he isn't a slacker, won't take the easy way out and we should have his full attention to work with him and develop him.

If we don't see him step on the field year 1 I would say things are going pretty good for us. Unless of course he gets some reps when we are blowing out the Chiefs. The best thing for Lynch is to learn, learn, learn (develop develop develop) this year.... If we have to depend on him during his rookie year then we are in trouble at the position.

Anyone else think Elway may have fallen in love with Lynch because he reminded him of himself?

Strong arm and mobile.

Of course that's a big if - but I also think Oz is a big if for Houston. As far as salaries:
Oz for 2016 $21MM
Paxton for 2016 through 2019 - $9.1 MM

Big Al is super pumped for Lynch. He has a coaching contact who was the DB coach for a time at Memphis and says that Lynch is a freak athlete. I don't always believe everything Al says, but he does have connections that I like to hear their opinions.

Like OC, im feeling better and better about Lynch's future.

You all didn't really think Osweiler was the QB of the future?

I was at the Denver Broncos Chicago Bears game in 2015, Osweiler was underwhelming. The weather was fricking cold, but there was no wind and it was sunny.

If the Denver Defense wasn't so good, he would have been like Steve Ramsey(blast from the past) or like Jay Cutler.

I am a fan of Paxton Lynch.
