The $39M you've mentioned is effectively already wasted. The issue is that the next $37M for 2025 will guarantee very soon. If they can't find a trade partner they will cut him because wasting $39M is better than wasting $76M.

I expect the Broncos will release Wilson around the first week in March and just eat that big dead cap for a year. Then he can go sign wherever somebody will take him. I have no idea where that is but likely one of the teams in need that doesn't think they have a shot at trading up for one of the top prospects.

Yep, because Payton is backed by owners (when they traded for him from NO) and they traded for RW when they had a different coach.

They are sacrificing next season and probably going to select a QB in the '25 draft. Payton is going to remake the team in his image. He is in it for
the long haul.
