Anyone think the Giants may take a stab at Xavier Nady? I feel like he's the kind of player that Brian Sabean will take a chance on. He's had some productive years in the past but has battled some injury-plagued seasons lately. I think he's a Scott Boras client but maybe we can sign him to a deal similar to Aubrey Huffs. He's also from Salinas which might intrigue him. Let me know if I'm off on Nady but my most fond memories of him was when he was ripping it up on the Pirates.

IMO, you're off. But only because I see us re-signing Huff and if we don't do that, letting Belt compete for the job or keep the seat warm and put Pablo at 1st and DeRosa at 3rd until they feel he's ready (or after the 'super two' cutoff).

Nady is intriguing. He had an awful 2009, but is only 32 and was pretty consistent until last year. He's a 275/330/450 type guy when right, which would make him a reserve OF. I think he's a downgrade from Burrell, and we already have Nate (a 270/315/400 guy with much better defense) as a reserve. He'd only be interesting if we were able to trade Rowand.

What about Grady Sizemore of the Cleveland Indians?

His value right now is extremely low coming off of 2 injury seasons, but most people have forgoten about him. And he is relativley cheap, earning $7.5 million next year and a $8.5 million team option the year after.

In 08', he put up a .268/.374/.502 with 33 HRs and 38 SBs, 130 K's and 98 BBs. And he's still only 28.

RF- Torres
2B- Sanchez
CF- Sizemore
C- Posey
1B- Huff
LF- Ross
3B- Sandoval
SS- Uribe/Renteria/Crawford/Hardy

Sexy

I think that's a great idea actually. I don't know what we could send to Cleveland to get him without including our untouchables, probably something along the lines of Sandoval + Neal + Peguero.

On a side note it looks like scouts and fans like Belt more and more everytime they see him:

Brandon Belt love - Belt talks swing mechanics & gets accolades - McCovey Chronicles

TK, who was saying that they'd want all 3 of those guys. I think that's a pipe dream even for the Yankees, yet alone the Giants. TBH, I don't see any of the three in SF next season. Unless Management has a frontal lobotomy over the winter.

That's pretty much the package I was thinking of. The more I think about it, the more I love it, guy's a stud.

... when he plays. I like Sizemore's game, too. He is definitely a 5-tool ball player when he is 100%. The thing is the Giants would be taking all of the risk in that scenario. Three potential starters is a hefty price for a player that may or may not ever get back to playing as well as he did two years ago. The Giants are in a unique situation where they can allow some of their prospects to mature and see what they have for decades to come while still playing championship-caliber baseball. No need to roll the dice. I like the thinking, but I don't see it happening or paying off as well as we'd hope if it did.

"Let the young guys play"!

remember that mantra?

I'm still for it..could always trade for a bat mid-season :p

I want to see what a full year of Posey and Torres and a possible resurgence of Panda would look like.

Bill James has him projected out to 265/355/455, which would be a downgrade from Burrell, who is a superior defender. He'd also be more expensive than Pat, AND we'd have to give someone up to get him. His only upside is age, but we'd be banking on a big rebound. Not a Sabean type player.
