Small change to my original suggestion But i will write the whole suggestion so it makes sense:
You draft a player, you own the year of that players rookie Year... and Nobody except you can draft a player from that year...
For example, I pick Babe Ruth, his rookie year was 2014, I own that year and am the only one that draft from that year... That year is now blocked and nobody else can draft from that year...
A maximum of 5 years can be drafted from each decade in the draft...
MLB started in 1876 and the last season was 2014
that is 15 decades worth of baseball... so at a max there can be 74 Years taken
Decades go from 0-9.
25 team roster... It is possible for a specific owner to have 25 players from different years...
I don't like limiting owners to anything, limit the draft instead so there is an extra strategy during draft...
Ok, name dropping, say I take Rocket and you take Ruth and Smittty takes Gehrig. That's all fine. Then I take the Yankees, and someone takes Jeter, which is fine. Once the 12 rounds are done, I can fill out the rest of my rosterwith Yankees only that weren't taken in draft . If Nos took the Dodgers, his remaining roster is Dodgers. No one will see remaining picks till playoffs start

Yep, and I think it adds strategy. Some guys will take a great player inthe first round, some a great team . Example, you are picking in the 1st round, you could take one of the greatest players ever, or pick, say the Red Sox as your team. The draft plays out(remember, each team only gets to pick one starting P in the 12 rounds) and you took Carlton as your ace. When the 12 rounds are over, you fill out the rest of your roster with Red Sox(exclusive). So , say Ruth and Clemens had been picked in the draft by different teams, but Pedro, Schilling, Papi, Papelbon, etc hadn't. You can use any Sox player not taken in main draft. So when do you pick great players, and when do you pass on a great player to secure the team you want? This part I really like, I have been trying to think of a way to do something like this for quite a while...
Let's go!So... Let's get this started
It's baseball, so Shane, Steve, and Jeffro.....So we need more people.

How about 58-83? That covers 25 years between 57 and 87. Or 1990- todaySo we still havent decided on what we are doing in this one.
I like the idea of just drafting 25 players from a certain 25 year period.
