Saints reportedly pursuing Cowboys guard Ronald Leary in a trade
Leary lost his starting job to La'el Collins last season

The New Orleans Saints have a hole in the middle of their offensive line. As of this moment, they're slated to start either Tim Lelito or Senio Kelemete at left guard.

That's not a great duo from which to be choosing, and so they are interested in pursuing a trade for Dallas Cowboys guard Ronald Leary, according to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Leary started at left guard for the Cowboys during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, as well as the first five weeks of the 2015 season. He then lost his job to La'el Collins, a rookie that the Cowboys signed as an undrafted free agent but who was projected as an early first-round pick before his draft prospects were derailed due to the death of his ex-girlfriend mere days before the draft (he was never considered a suspect in the case but police had not yet talked to him at the time of the draft).

Collins is expected to start at that spot for the foreseeable future, so Leary is now a backup. He requested a trade earlier this offseason, but the Cowboys have yet to find an agreeable deal.

During the 2013 and 2014 seasons (especially 2014), Leary played extremely well, especially in the running game. He's a very athletic lineman that can get out in space while pulling on power runs, and he's shown the ability to pass-protect at an above-average level as well.

Leary was an undrafted free agent himself in 2012, though he likely would have been drafted had it not been discovered that he suffers from a degenerative knee condition known as osteochondritis dissecans, which could potentially shorten his career. He's still 27 years old though, so it's possible he has a few years of high-level play left.

In terms of a potential trade return, the Cowboys have needs at backup quarterback and pass-rusher. The Saints could also send a draft pick to Dallas for Leary, which they could then reroute to another team to help fill one or both of those needs.

I wouldn't trade Leary for one of the Saints backup QBs. Gonna need some value from them, otherwise I'd hang on to him. Chances are, someone up front will miss a game or more at some point and he'll have more value for Dallas than a scrub or a low pick.

I am not in a hurry to trade Leary. I think he is a better Guard than about half the starters in the NFL.

I'd ask for the king, or keep him as insurance. Maybe I'll compromise for a queen. I'd definitely wont give him away cheap.

Make sure you demand a MILF queen!

I think most on here like Leary but for some reason this team never got behind him or something. I am not sure it is all his fault. As much as I want him to succeed, I want the Boys to go beyond my expectations so if we can get some D line help that would be a starter<<<<by that I mean quality starter, Let him go. But won't be a bad thing if we can't get that in return because he is a valuable commodity.

No doubt, as for the team not getting behind Leary, I think there is a fear he won't last long health wise, remember we picked him up off of the injured scrap heap.

I think some would say he has played on borrowed time with a knee that could go at any time(had micro fracture surgery if I recall) but bottom line he has turned into a quality starter and I would want a lot in return too. I also understand that the guy wants to play, tough spot to be in.

A lot of guys get drafted later or passed on because of injury scares and a lot of guys have scary meds and still get resigned, or signed by other teams. So far so good with his knee so I'm not sure how big a concern that still is. I know it must be part of the picture but he is pretty cheap which in a cap world I would think makes him very marketable.
