After the bye week their defense (with no help from the offense) held opposing teams to

10
10
27
20
20
19
23
6

And before the bye week they were on a 5-1 run.

The Jets offense scored 15 points the last 3 weeks of the season. And averaged 8.4 points a game over the last 5.
Okay, but none of that means that Aaron Rodgers is the QB of the future. The gamble is that Rodgers does something within a couple of years (1 really) to get to that championship. Because when that period expires, they are down two 1-2 round picks and a 6th, and are starting over again at the QB position.

No, it's totally botched if they F'up all the picks they got, other than that you don't know what you're talking about.

That's just common sense. But I guarantee you Seattle fans feel a lot better with the haul that they got for the douche that didn't want to be there anymore more than Green Bay fans feel good about what they got for the asshole that didn't want to be there anymore.

Okay, cool. I hope they help each other. But football isn’t fantasy football, and you can’t plug a new guy in and get instant success. Rodgers will be 40 years old. And 2022 were his worst stats in like 15 years. The Jets have 1, maybe 2 years to make this work.

Totally agree. If they get two years and win a SB, big win. If they go deep in the playoffs both years that's okay. Anything short of that will be rough.

Zach will get his shot again probably in 2025 and maybe he'll be improved.

I'm probably a little biased. As a shareholder, I'm glad to be rid of him and his dumb, offseason antics. It was time for the team to move on from him 2 years ago.

Think what you want, I will however state that Rodgers is 39, so how many years do you think he was/is still going to play? I will say I'm not disappointed in what the Packers got, why would I be? It's not like he's at the beginning of his run, he didn't want to be in Green Bay any longer and it seems that it has just played out, so I think they got plenty. All said and done, to me, it's 2 2nd round picks for a 39 year old QB that didn't want to be there any more...

Heck, I think the Packers did well for a 39-year-old QB who seems half-hearted about continuing his career. Yes, Seahawks fans are likely happier about the return they got for Wilson, but it's not apples to apples kind of comparison.

My point is, if the front office for Green Bay had been proactive, they would have gotten way more than 2 seconds for him. Trading him coming off of an MVP in 21' than the mediocre season he had in 22' would have been better for the bottom line of both teams given the cliff that Russ fell off of.

In fact, they had been setting up moving on from him and didn't until it was too late and he forced his way out. This was a day that was coming down the line the second they drafted Love. Extending him was a mistake that they shouldn't have made.

Once they decided not to keep Adams they should have turned to Love, but hindsight is easy.

That's not hindsight. They made their decision to move on from Rodgers in April of 2020. Had they stuck to that plan and traded him, not extended him, they would be in a far better position than they are now.

I agree with this but him winning those MVP's and going to the NFCCG screwed things up. I'm not sure if they are 100% sold on Love either. They were thinking it was a resurgence and they had a window to win a SB probably and now they have to salvage what they can. At least they got this done and managed to get a decent return possibly.

I think the trade is on par with what the more sane posters on here thought.
excluding all the little parts (swaps & 5ths & 6ths) The meat & potatoes are equivalent to, two 2nds or at worst a 2nd & 3rd. (using the idea of a draft pick next year is equivalent to a round back from this year)

Figure if everything works out well for both in this trade. Packers get a pick in the mid 20's next year & the Jets get back into the playoffs.
Perfect world for Jets is Rodgers can groom Wilson for after he departs, so the jets dont have to start over when he leaves & Wilson's career gets saved. Worst case. Rodgers leaves after a year & Wilson doesnt improve. The jets revert back to the Jets at QB.

Bottomline to me. Good trade for both.

His performance against the 9ers was a joke, scoring on the first drive, but getting shut out after and he took no responsibility for it.

I'll give them credit for getting what they can from an untenable situation. But they created the situation themselves by kowtowing to him for so many years and completely letting his ego go unchecked.

A pick in the 20s in the future. A pick in the 40s now. Doesn't matter who you pick with them. That's not a lot of help to replace a legend at QB.
The Packers traded their 15th pick in the 1st round to NY and got the Jets 13th pick in the draft on Thursday. And a 2nd in this draft.

And it is a 1st rounder in '24 draft if Rodgers plays 65% of the snaps. 2nd rounder if he doesn't.

2022 Jets
357/627 4040 yds 15 TDs 14 INTs; passer rating 75.0 (worst)

2022 Rodgers
350/542 3695 yds 26 TDs 12 INTs; passer rating 91.1 (15th)
And he could bounce back in NY since Hackett is there....last season Hackett was in Denver.

They just started over again twice at the QB position in the last 5 years anyway. A future 20th pick and a current year 40th pick is almost nothing compared to the 2nd or 3rd pick. They're not losing anything that helps them get a QB in 2025 or 26. And they just jumped to the top at the position for the next two years.
