Also, LOL at that title. Talk about not understanding the game at all. Yes, it took a non-record breaking streak (which was awesome, don't get me wrong) to "save hockey". Pretty sure they've actually been doing quite well.

And that is why I cancelled my subscription to SI over 25 years ago.

Edit: It may have been 30 years. This after they promised that they intended on more/better hockey coverage.

I think the fact that sports fans, forced to watch a lame baseball playoffs, a "meh" NFL season, pathetic college football and the shit show that is basketball just really remembered that hockey is, by comparison, better to watch. It's really been playoff hockey from the start, so that adds to it.

I'm just glad that they didn't tie the resurgence of the NHL to Sidney Crosby's latest gatorade commercial or some shit.

Hahhahahahahahahahha

Incredibly it's not even a regional one, but a national one. I'm caught between being happy for getting coverage and being embarassed by such a statement. It's just like when the NHL said "hockey is back!" like it disappeared during the lockout. It's a sense of arrogance and entitlement. The Hawks are part of what makes the NHL awesome and enjoyable, but they are not THE NHL and certainly not HOCKEY alone.

It really has been a down in regular season in basically every other sport. College basketball has been pretty raucous, but that's because there's no fantastic teams, but a bunch of good ones. But you're right, MLB/NFL/NBA have been blah. NCAAF certainly wasn't that exciting. And hey, SIDNEY CROSBY IS THE NHL. AND JACK JOHNSON IS HIS ROBIN. JJ TO THE PENS FOR TK AND ENGO! SHERO IS KING! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I don't know what you all are talking about. The MLB postseason was freaking fantastic this year...

Gee can't wait for this season to start. MLB already has had all kinds of PED allegations & the season hasn't even started yet. The teams don't give a rats ass whether a player uses drugs or not either. Cabrera got a nice deal from Toronto. The A's resigned Colon. Ryan Braun is a liar in my book. He got off on a technicality. It was bullshit.

I want the Padres to trade Grandal & I'm not going too any Padres games until he's off the team. It that means I don't go to any game for a few years that's fiine by me.

What you did there, I see it.

Yes.... I'm a crafty little Weazal. Been able to purchase a lot of SI mags recently. Was really hoping to get that "Devils 2012 Stanley Cup Champions" edition, fuck the Kings. :gaah:

I was interested in the post season this year, and didn't know how to act because it hadn't happened in my daughter's lifetime. We'd listen to games on the radio while we were out shopping for a car for her.

But overall... yeah. It was meh.

I liked the MLB playoffs last year. I'll like them more this year when the Pirates are in it. :D

But hockey's been awesome this year, and that's independent of the Hawks' crazy run. The NHL is getting watched because the games have been really good in general.

Sorry buddy, they're still in the pack. I know they have a better record, but the schedule leaves me with farrrr too many questions.

The schedule is beyond their control, really. I don't think it's their fault they're that much better than the WCC. Non conference schedule was tough. Beat Oklahoma State, K-State, Oklahoma, Davidson, Baylor. Just my opinion, Then again, I am a bit biased.:D

Also, a good read:
Here comes the Gonzaga backlash - Men's College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

Done hijacking the thread. I did create an OT thread, talk there:)

Not faulting them. They did well (really well) with the schedule given to them. But the fact remains that their talent is part of the top pack, not alone. I wouldn't say they set themselves apart. And those are wins against big schools, but not powerhouses. The Big 10 is the cream of the crop this year. Big 12 is having a pretty down year in comparison. They deserve the ranking, because I was sick of watching IU get it, lose a game, and keep it because the other guy lost.

Man, that is an awful title.

I just think it's weird that a swimsuit magazine is covering professional sports.
