Who are these MANY HOF players? And how did he go on to disrespect them after they told him to "shut up"?

Well one who got roped into this twitter feud is Darrell Green who told them to stop tearing each other down and be an example to kids in this country.

Warren Sapp called him out after the NFC Championship game

I think it matters in the fact that honestly his self promotion is actually hurting his legacy more than helping in my opinion. People hate arrogance and well Sherman gives them every chance to hate him with his antics. Yes I realize these other two guys mouthed off first but it doesn't mean he has to respond. Do that on the field. I don't really see any of the other stars in the league other than maybe Revis a little here and there acting like Sherman. Heck Manning was MVP this past season and spent most of the time talking about all the players around him and coaches. Calvin Johnson is about as quiet as they come. Adrian Peterson talks but rarely about how he is one of the greatest RB's of all time. He feels honored usually to be mentioned with those guys.

Yes in the end him mouthing off isn't that big of a deal but when these guys are examples to kids around the world his arrogance and childish behavior only influences them towards stupidity.
Really? Kids around the world is your argument?
I'm sorry, but NFL players in general are not what I'd call role models. Parents are role models. Teachers can be role models. Athletes are overpaid jocks. Nothing more, and nothing less. You are grossly overstating the value of him spouting off.

As for comparing him to Manning? :L Are you fucking high? :laugh3: QB's are generally expected to hold a certain decorum. And at that there are plenty who don't (See Kaepernick, Cutler, Rapistburger, etc). CB's are normally not that quiet and reserved. They just aren't. Neither are WR's. Most are kind of cocky. And we all accept that.

Heck he has had many past HOF players call him out and telling him to shut up. He just seems to act like he has no respect for the game, other players, the history, or those he influences on a daily basis.
I'd very much enjoy seeing this list of 'many' past HOF players calling him out and telling him to shut up. Care to point me to a link with that?

Exactly how is it disrespecting the game to think he is the greatest at his position today and making sure everyone knows it? It's just not that big of a deal.

I mean sorry Seattle sent your team back to the stone age a few weeks ago, but your feigned outrage is betraying your lack of a non biased opinion here. Sherman being a douche online is at best a back page worthy event and isn't terribly important in any way. This notion that he is a bad role model is laughable or that 'many' HOF players are calling him out. Pretty lame stuff.

You won't get a real reply to that and neither will I after asking for the same thing because it didn't happen. There aren't 'many' HOF players who have called him out. And I've never seen Sherman disrespect any HOF players. Funny how some of these guys get off trying to make something major out minor events. Sad really.

I'll give you Green.

Sapp is a sack of turds who shouldn't be giving any advice on how to act. His comments were immediately negated by Hank Aaron coming to his support.

Fine then substitute Tony Dungy for Warren Sapp. He isn't a sack of turds.

Sherman is a bitch. Hall said nothing to wrong in his initial statements. What he said WAS TRUE. Sherman doesn't cover the # 1 guys all game long.

So two guys?

Plenty of guys supported his passion after that deal too. But ultimately, the most important thing is that his teammates always support him. People act like he's a bad teammate because he doesn't fit a particular profile but those guys love and respect him.

I don't see how that makes you the better CB just because he shadows receivers. It really just means that the rest of the coverage on the defense isn't good.

Honest question, did you or any others who say that see seattles defense? They were mentioned in the same breath as 2000 ravens and 85 bears..... Pete carroll doesnt need or want a cb to follow around one player. Sherman ELIMINATeS half the field, the rest of the D can handle the other half just fine.

Yeah, I like Sherman but he's making me wonder if he cares more about personal accolades than he does team accolades.

Don't talk bad about the "All-Pro Stanford Graduate athlete"! How dare you! LOL

Yes I think this guy cares more about his own ego then his team

I personally fail to see the big gripe about Sherman. He is an excellent player, period. Granted, his mouth is rather annoying, but it shouldn't be a enormous deal. Then again, football isn't a huge deal to me in the grand scheme of things either, so what do I know? I'll take a stab at this for the sake of it anyways...

Are athletes role models? Yes, rather you like it or not, they are indeed role models to a certain point. It is no surprise we see athletes all the time in advertising for this reason often aimed at young people because THEY DO have influence as they are role models to an extent. Is Sherman a bad role model? Not really ( In fact, I think he is a pretty good guy off the field) if you actually take the time to look into what he does, but the media dictates what the masses talk about at times so this a bit of problem for Sherman as his image sucks for many people... hence being called a thug among other false and erroneous adjectives.

Does it matter? Not significantly even if Sherman is a "bad" role model. Parents are still far and away the biggest influence on kids and young adolescents. What seems to be happening is the masses either follow Sherman himself on Twitter and get a lot of this info (as evidenced by this thread) and or watch the media like NFLN, ESPN, FS1, etc talk about Sherman. The media dictates what the masses talk about at times. This thread seems to be evidence of that to me. Is Sherman annoying, I would say yes... but it is not a big deal.

And this was Hall's other point. One player doesn't make a team so the fact that the rest of the Seattle defense is great also helps Sherman. Hall doesn't say anything bad or that's not true so I don't see why Sherman is even taking offense to it. This guy needs to grow a pair of balls and stop getting his panty in a bunch when a player doesn't think he is the best CB in the game. People have the right to their opinion. It's not like Hall said he's a crappy CB

Not only that, but Sherman has to watch a lot more film. It's not like every team has one really great WR and all the rest are garbage. Sherman has to be ready for anyone out there and know what ALL of them do in their tendencies.

Hall was just being a little bitch. No other way to put it. When you have Chad Johnson come to your aid and he isn't a teammate of yours it should say something loud and clear.

Sherman tried to take the high road with Blount and Hall came in swinging taking cheap shots really for no reason. Not one of you are calling Hall out for it. Why? Because the only reason you are outraged to begin with is you already dislike Sherman so anything he is involved in is automatically his fault. Seems pretty clear to me.

So if your stance is Hall didn't say anything that wasn't true, then point out what Sherman said that wasn't true. I mean you are here telling us what a piece of shit he is and yet Hall wasn't doing anything but telling it like it is. So how is that different than Sherman also speaking the truth? Hall jumped into something he wasn't involved in that actually wasn't even a fight as both Blount and Sherman were being quite civil to each other. How is stirring up the shit when you weren't involved not being a dick for no reason whether anything he said is actually true or not?

Sorry, but you are yet another one with selective moral outrage whenever it supports your preconceived opinions of others. Nothing more.

So then call them both punks, don't just sit there and say nothing Hall said was wrong.

I've always said I don't like Sherman's mouth at times. I just don't think this is a big deal. In fact, of all the things people up here have whined about from him this is the least valid of all of them. It really wasn't worth having an opinion on either way.
