Funny how you seem to leave out the fact that Cooper is making half of what Jackson is and yet finished off the season playing better than Jackson with Foles as the quarterback. Jackson's contract was out of control and every year he was screaming for a raise. Throw in there seem to be plenty of rumors circulating of him being a cancer in the locker room plus off the field issues. Now not saying it is all true but usually when there is this much coming out some of it is at least true.

Can't players just be cut because their contracts just no longer help the team? I mean this is like the Vikings punter all over again where he screamed foul that he got fired and blamed it on his views of supporting gay marriage when really he is an average punter at best being paid like a top 10 guy.

THIS is the most honest I've seen anyone in this thread state.

I have no problems with this, if the team had said that to begin with. INSTEAD, they tried to ruin his reputation with "rumors" of gang activity, despite Jackson never really ever getting in any trouble. They've known who he associates with for 6 years, he's been the same locker room guy he's been for 6 years, and none of that stopped them from giving him a large extension.

If it's a money issue, just cut him and say so. Everything else is pure bullshit that too many of you buy hook, line and sinker.

Sherman is getting annoying with all this... He is becoming Al and Jesse... But that does not mean he is wrong, He is pointing out the double standards of life, but he really shouldnt be the one constantly doing it... I do agree that its racist, same with the N word banning, but he should know when to fight a battle and when not to... He is constantly fighting battles he should not get into, nor should anyone...

So you are telling me that an organization who has had Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick as starting QBs cut Desean Jackson because he is black....

Do some of you who scream racism at every opportunity ever stop to think before you do?

When did anyone use the n word to the media?? They say it to each other. So just because others overhear it that makes it wrong. That's just being sensitive and jealous.

I don't think its being sensitive or anyone is jealous of that word. I dont think there is going to be an enforcer in every locker room. They are professionals making boats of money, watched by millions, and should act professional. This isnt Gladiator fighting to the death

That was under Andy Reid though that all of this was allowed. New coaches have different expectations and it has been proven that Chip Kelly does not stand for me first players that cause problems on and off the field.

From reports that I have read the Eagles were seeing more and more of a change in Jackson especially over this last year. He started missing meetings, gave inconsistent work in practice, and from the sounds of it his friends were becoming more and more a part of his life. Now nothing wrong with him staying connected with his friends but when they start causing him to show up late to work and sometimes not even show up then yes they are becoming a problem in his life and all of a sudden a guy that you have $10 million invested in per year starts becoming a huge liability. You don't pay a guy that much money to not show up to work and not be a team leader and example.

SHERMAN DIDN'T CALL RACISM.

He kind of very loosely implied it, but that wasn't the focus of what he said.

I don't know, and really don't care if there was racism here. I mean racism toward a guy who is rich by other people who are filthy rich doesn't seem like much of an issue or story to me. Just doesn't.

That said, just because an organization has had plenty of high profile black athletes on its team doesn't mean they couldn't have been racist in dealing with another one that may have been accused of being too close to gang activity. I don't recall mcnabb being accused of being close to people involved in gangs. Now Vick is another story as he did have a checkered past, but dog fighting isn't exactly the same thing.

WTF???

Maybe you haven't paid attention to the outright criminals he's recruited to Oregon over the years, and what he allowed them to get away with........this statement is outright LAUGHABLE

Like I said......all they had to do was say hey, we need salary cap space, and cut him. INSTEAD, THEY LEAKED all these rumors.......they didn't appear out of thin air. That's an attempt to ruin a man's reputation, its borderline libel and slander.

Why does anyone even listen to what Sherman says? He's clearly just saying all this shit to get attention, just like he did with Revis, Hall and Crabtree. He's a great player, leave it at that.

Edit: I just read the article, his comments are taken WAY out of context. Still stand by the Revis, Hall, Crabtree point though.

Oh sheesh love that you say that but have no evidence to back up your idiotic statement. Here at least I have an article detailing how he handled the different troubled players that he recruited. Yes he didn't stray away from recruiting players with a past but he also tried to help them out. He didn't just recruit them then let them get away with crap until the NCAA stepped in. Heck there were many who criticized him for being too harsh in his punishments towards players who caused problems.

You are a clear example of someone who only sees what they want to see. Chip Kelly has a LONG history of recruiting bad players, and MANY of them have gotten away with quite a lot. He didn't start "handling" them until the NCAA started sniffing around his program.

Do I REALLY have to link every arrest, as well as the NCAA violations, or are you actually going to look it up for yourself? Google works for you the same as me.

Let's be honest here......Kelly has recruited and coached MUCH worse than Desean Jackson.

Well I think it is only fair since I provided you with an article of how Chip Kelly handled some of his players that maybe you return the favor. Shouldn't make me do all the work here.

People like this desensitize us from actual racist things.

It's quite unfortunate how these idiots throw the racism word around non stop.

Also I am not saying Chip Kelly is perfect in how he handles every player. Again though when you are paying a guy like Jackson close to $10 million a year (usually only franchise players make this much a year) you expect them to be the face of the franchise. When they start missing practices, not giving full effort, and have been known to be a me-first type player then yes it is time as a team to move on from that type of player. His production on the field did not outweigh the distractions off the field any longer. He is a good player but not top tier when it comes to receivers yet he was being paid like one.

Anyway really in this situation we should try to separate the rumors from the truths.
At this point it is proven that Jackson has now twice been connected in murders done by the Crips gang members. One of them was a good friend of his who also is signed with Jackson's record label. Police questioned him but never thought him to be involved in the situation.
The other was at a property that he owned where there was plenty of paperwork signed by Jackson such as a Car Title and gun permit. He again is not thought to be involved in the murder but was contacted by the police for questioning.
The name of his record label has also raised red flags with the police as Crips do not like to put a C and K next to each other as that usually means Crip Killer so they will change K's to C's just like his record label. Again does not show that Jackson is actually a part of the gang but raises some flags.
He also flashes Crip gang signals in pictures and even has done it on the field. If he is not in the gang then police worry for his safety as Crips do not like non-gang members flashing their symbols. If he is in the gang he is putting himself in danger as obviously other gang members will target him now.

He also was arrested for possession of Marijuana but later had the charge against him dropped to a disturbing the peace.

Richard Sherman has a point, IF the Eagles cut Jackson because they fear he's a bad guy from the company he keeps and not because a $10MM annual cap hit is too much for a good, but incomplete, WR.

THIS is my main point. If you're going to cut him because he costs too much, just say so and move on. All this he was a cancer, he's in a gang crap is pure BS, and completely unnecessary.

That is, in fact, what it alludes to. Ownership picking up minority players does not mean they are not racist but it does lend evidence that they are not. Racism is not contingent on your affiliations. You cannot be a racist for not liking a guy based on who he hangs out with. (Unless, of course, you disapprove of the people based on their race.)

To put it another way, it would not be racist if DeSean Jackson was cut because of Yakuza/Mafia affiliations.

To be honest, I think Jackson was becoming too much of a nuisance and the Eagles were done playing his game. Some people may have had concerns about affiliations but unless there was good evidence of criminal activity I doubt they cut him solely for that reason.

Whether it is racist or not, why does Richard Sherman need to be the one to comment... He needs to learn how to keep is mouth shut when things dont affect him... There is so much racism around, that you can bring up anything and there will likely be some racism there, so why make comments that can backfire at you when you are not affected??

That is my problem with Sherman, he just has to say something!!!
