It’s Shurmur

Vic decided at halftime of the Chiefs game after watching Mahomes threw for 4 in a qtr more than Denver scores in 2 games

Schumur would make sense -in that he handled Jones very well this year and made - Case Keenum look like a 13-3 QB for a whole year.

The Broncos OC situation sounds like @LGM and his girlfriends...

I’m pretty convinced they made this move knowing they could get Shurmerazo.

I think in the short term we will be better. I did like some of what I saw in the last month of the year.

It wasn’t my favorite move to fire Scang. I know lots of fans hated him. I thought improvement and some creativity showed the last 4 games or so.

But I’d say we did upgrade. And it doesn’t cost us much, if anything. Giants owe him $6MM per year for next three years - and unless we pay more than that (would be by far highest paid OC) we don’t have to pay him. I don’t know what we owe Scang, but this appears to be both a win in coaching upgrade and at the least doesn’t cost any more.

I wonder if we will take a look at someone like Cody Latimer.

Well we can’t really get any worse on special teams this year so it wouldn’t hurt, he was a pretty good special-teams player for us when we had him.

I was not a fan of Scangarello, nothing at all was impressive. We need an aggressive style offense. I am happy with this move thus far

I will be ok with it if the existing coaching staff stays, even though I believe the coordinators should be able to pick their positional coaches. Our current staff was actually developing players. It was a nice to see.

I have been thinking about this for a bit. I am thinking that our losses to the Chiefs is just as much on the Defense as it is the Offense. If is unrealistic to expect a change of OC to score every possession so the Defense has to get 1 or 2 stops a game, unless the game falls perfectly where you can score at the end of the 1st half and get the ball to start the second half with a score. This would allow the Defense to not have to stop the Chiefs at all.

My point here is we need to be better on both sides of the ball to get a win against the Chiefs. I believe we were on our way prior to the change at OC. Will it be better with Shurmur? We will never really know, but I hope this is the last major coaching change we see for a while.

If Schumur has already agreed to be the OC - then I would suspect - the conversation over which coaches on the offense stay and which ones leave has already been hashed out. Or, at least - who has the authority of those coaches. It would be a shame to replace all the offensive coaches at this point.

What I like about Lock is he can make all the throws - with distance, with pace - with touch and on the run. A good offensive coordinator can make use of that much better than the Broncos did last season (but last season wasn't supposed to be Lock's season after his injury). I was shocked to find out that Flacco wasn't allowed to audible under Scangarello - that was a death sentence for Flacco.

Another good point about having Schumur is he may be helpful in defensing Andy Ried's offense.

Denver Broncos - Welcome my friend to the party that never ends.

Is Denver circling the drain. What is going on

Elway and change are the only constant here

How come our HCs are firing OCs a year after working with them. Is Elway forcing a HC to work with a OC?
Who is the fall guy next year

Mike McCoy 2017
VJ 2018
Rich 2019
Fangio ?? 2020
