I kind of feel like he never had a chance here. Last year in Minnesota he was constantly getting hung out to dry by Favre which took him almost a year to recover from, then he deals with TJax/CBJ behind center, then it's a Russell Wilson with handcuffs on for half of a season. When they loosened things up for Wilson the 2nd half of last season he actually played well. Then there's this year where he was obviously nowhere near 100% from day 1. He was well compensated but he's professional as they come and he couldn't have been happy with his production.

yup not really a matter if but when. Question will be if we lose Tate as well. The Matthews signing is one potential replacement for him but I also expect another WR to be added in the draft somewhere. Not sure what round but I'd be surprised if a bigger receiver isn't something they are targeting.

He never lived up to his contract, but he wasn't a disaster either. At least the timing is fine because his contract was structured that he got a lot of his coin up front, and thus his dead money hit to us is very minimal all things considered.

Hopefully, he can rehab his ACL and play some more ball somewhere else. But considering how much problems the guy has with his hips and knees, I suspect he's showing the signs of an early arthritic condition. If so, he may have to call it quits as his body can't handle the strains of sports anymore.

Just a damn shame cause when healthy, he can ball and had great hands.

He made some great catches and it's a shame that it didn't work out, but the Hawks are making the right call.

He did indeed, that clutch catch in Chicago to win the game a couple years ago comes to mind. It's too bad he couldn't stay healthy enough to earn what he was being paid. I agree this is the right move.

Sid, thank you for your service and best of luck to you.

No surprise here. Would have preferred to see him retained on a cheaper contract simply for the depth he offers but I wouldn't offer him much and he can probably get more in the open market. Best of luck to him.

Unfortunate that it seems injuries really derailed him.

I'll never forget him being brave enough to hang in there and take a huge hit in OT in Chicago last year. Got rocked and held onto the pass that won us that game which I felt was the turning point in our season as we won out until the playoffs.

Ill root for him wherever he ends up.

:agree:

Rice was never afraid to give up his body for the team. I wish him well where ever he goes. Heck Maybe they cut him and sign him back to a much lesser contract if no one picks him up? It could happen and i wouldn't be against it.

Good Luck Mr. Rice, you got a Superbowl ring now, so hopefully no hard feelings.

That Pat's game was clutch too,he was open several times and RW didn't see him his rookie year, but Rice has had many surgery's so he is slowing down some.

Nothing but love and respect for Rice. If for some reason the market doesn't provide him with a good enough contract. I would not mind him coming back at the vet's min.

Rice came up with so many big plays for us in 2012. Will never forget the game winners he caught to beat the vaunted Patriots and the signature catch in OT that signified that Russell had "it" and was ready to carry this team when needed

Hopefully he can catch on somewhere else and end his career on the healthy side.

He had a pretty good sideline grab in the playoff game against the Redskins last year if Im not mistaken. I knew that Chicago game was a turning point but I didnt realize the Hawks are 22-4 the last 2 years including the playoffs since Rice caught that game winning pass in overtime.
