Think back for a moment and if possible, recall the one poster here who thought it wise to sit Griffin in order to properly transition him into the NFL game. It is because of the false "pressure" being held as reason to insert these guys into a starting role that's ruining them. If they are not properly prepared for this game and drafted as if they were, is there any wonder why they fail? It is true that they may still fail with proper preparation, but those odds go down as a result of such preparation. Without it there's a near or greater than 90% chance that they are doomed to failure.

The college game is producing more and more of these QB's, there are fewer Luck types coming into the NFL game. The NFL is adjusting to this and players like Jackson will benefit from some seasoning before being thrown into the fire.

You weren’t the only one who thought it was wise. We all think it is wise. Most know it can’t happen.

You can’t create an NFL QB in my opinion. Outside of Russell Wilson, I can’t think of another truly successful running QB...and no I am not limiting Wilson to being a runner. Cam, Luck, CK, and more have not improved as passers since entering the league.

Point is Jackson is NOT a "running" QB! Like Rogers, Wentz, and an entire host of others, he is a QB who can run. To be clear, despite his yardage gained running the ball, Jackson is a pass first or pocket QB first. Always has been, always will be.

I disagree that there are fewer "Luck types" entering the NFL. There are plenty of pure pocket passers coming into the NFL. They just are not being drafted as high because by and large they are high lights sell tickets. And the mobile QB, or the guy who puts up 4500 yards a season and rushes for another 1000 yards is the in thing at the moment. Darnold was considered by most the best QB prospect in this draft. Matfield went #1 over all ( Browns logic at its finest). Now the NFL may incorporate more of the RPO going forward. But the accurate pocket passer who can stay healthy is likely to remain the golden goose for a while still. Part of the reason our last QB got paid the way he did is because it makes little sense to pay a guy $25M or more a year, if you cant realistically expect him to play at least 12 of the 16 games per year. And while you do have the Luck, Manning type injuries from time to time, Wentz and Watson will bring pause to some GMs on just how much they want to invest in the mobile QB.

Again, the statistics say statistics say he is just that...a running QB. Lamar Jackson had the 11th most rushing yards in college football...so please tell me again how he is not a running QB.

Out of 129 schools, he was the 11th ranked rusher with over 1400 yards...let it sink in.

Yet in case after case there's always some project on someone's roster. Why are they projects? What would make them successful? BTW; there are some pretty successful projects that are currently in the NFL. (Rogers, Brady, easily come to mind)

Darnold can run, Mayfield too, No one is labeling them a "running " QB. Just because Jackson was more prolific at it than other guys, does not make him any less the pocket QB than either of them.

I think we need to look and discuss RPOs a little closer. You don’t need an athletic QB to run them. They are typically designed to go to a running back with the option to pass. Ask Nick Foles and NE.

Agreed!! But there is a third option with more "athletic" QB's

Say whatever you want. Jackson will always have a propensity to run.

I do believe you cannot create an NFL QB. Rodgers was always an NFL QB, he was just sitting behind an NFL legend. Brady was always an NFL QB because he sure wasn’t much of a collegiate one. Again, he was a nobody sitting behind a somebody. Let me know when you find a real project.

So will every QB who feels pressure and are otherwise out of options.

Right now as we speak (actually exchange msgs) Lamar Jackson is an NFL QB. BTW; Rogers wasn't just sitting there waiting for his time to come and neither was Brady, there are your projects.

Darnold 82 yards...Jackson 1440

Nice comparison.

You seem to be under the delusion that it is about playing the best player...sometimes it is about money for selling a product or finding out a player is better than you thought when he gets a chance.

I know right?? It's just downright unreasonable to believe that one is more prolific than another at something. Like Jackson gaining all of those yards while Darnold succumbed to the pressure and threw a lot of interceptions instead. :D

Some statements are stand alone because of their uniqueness. Factor in one or all of these reasons and you still have the sitting players, in this case, Rogers and Brady, working on perfecting their game.

Working on perfecting is not the same as creating.

Okay, I can't stand it anymore ... I am weighing in.

I am partial to Samoan players so I am racist. They grow big guys!!

I don't think the Duck Dynasty guys sound much different than other white or black guys from the south. HEY!! One was a QB too wasn't he?

Were Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton and Bobby Douglas black? Must have been light skinned. They all could run although in Tark's case he ran in circles behind the LOS. It was fun to watch. Kind of like watching your beagle chase a rabbit? Oh that is right, Deion almost had a heart attack when our 4th rounder ran a 4.34. He was trying to say "white guys can't run that fast." LOL I thought it was funny as ....

How about Lennox Lewis, who knew black guys could have a British accent?

Just some random thoughts. I don't think they mean a whole lot but I wanted to put my :2cents: in.

That's it boys, I am off to the racists .... errmmm I mean races. :hardy:

Somewhere in this vast land of ours, there's a child being born who doesn't know yet that they were born to be a good if not great NFL QB. NO work required, no effort and certainly, nothing that anyone currently alive will have any effect on his being so. Just a consequence of birth, right?

With that...I'm done!
