Considering that the qualifying offer was $5 over one year...shocked to see $6 over 3 years.

I am fine with it!

I don't think it's too bad either. If he's on where he was, he could be worth more. If it's a repeat of last you, the Caps still have the space to make more moves.

Yeah, it's not like the Caps don't have the space.

Don't think about what George McPhee just gave to Mike Green. Think about what Jay Feaster would've given to Mike Green.

Mike Green obviously should be happy with this contract, but then so should John Carlson...

@News1130Sports: We have learned that #Canucks goalie Eddie Lack has said no to Vancouver's qualifying offer.

And it was very calming...I'm just fed up with these Toronto-area sports writers continually taking shots at Calgary (Simmons did it again this week with the Calgary Stampede) and Proteau is just a lemming following the herd regarding Wideman.

That's a really good point. I could see the Isles, BJs and potentially the Hurricanes taking a swing.

Jackets are nowhere near cap floor and they have too many NHL ready D men already.

Same! There was a Caps' fan at a game about 3-4 years back ragging on Green every...single...time he touched the puck. I told him he had no idea how important Green was to the team and that he should say something positive instead, "we've chased away enough Hall of Fame defenseman with fan antics in this town." Only time I've ever said something to a fellow Caps' fan at a game. He shut the fuck up about Green the rest of the night.

I just want him to get healthy and play better. To be honest, he's had a lot of bad luck as well - pucks to the face, etc. Hope we sign him b/c I don't think we have a chance at a Cup without a healthy Mike Green.

Caps fans do seem to equate goals against with bad D-men, don't they? They used to just flat out attack Sylvain Cote. I thought he was one of the most underrated players I ever saw.

Of course, all the vitriol at Hatcher was earned.

@SWhyno
#Caps sign Mike Green to three year deal worth $18.25 million.

GMGM: I will give you a bag of chips.
Green: uh, nah
GMGM: Okay, you can have a Ferrari, but that's MY FINAL OFFER.

I propose we start calling McPhee "Poker Face".

Martin wasn't happy with his ELC deal. They'll get it done though. If they don't Martin knows the rules, he'll be playing overseas next season.

Surprised Wishart turned down the Q offer. He's lucky any team wants him.
