I wasn't able to find anything specifying a minimum payroll. I did find this:

Marlins' new look, stadium not fooling anybody - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

which makes it pretty clear that South Floridians are getting fucked in the ass by this deal.

It's an awful deal for the city.

They're now in dept booku bucks. To top it all off the SEC is investigating the whole situation, and just subpenaed a crap ton of financial information from both the city and the Marlins org.

Thank you. :sorry:

NP, twas hypocritical of me. I believe in the end Hanley will be staying but just a topic of discussion, this is probably the most Hanley will ever be available.

But looking at teh Marlins roster, I came across another possible target, Emilio Bonifacio. Kid plays all around the field and actually produced a .360 OBP and 3.3 WAR. One of the fastest guys in the league, maybe the Giants can dangle RamRam/Affeldt and a prospect?

Much better target imo.

Wont cost the world, and He plays all the OF spots, 2B, SS, and 3B. Obviously his lack of power and speed plays better up the middle.

Lowrie from Boston would be a decent target too.

Both possible high output guys. Lowrie has a pretty good bat for a 2B/SS/3B and is a switch hitter. Health issues come into play.

I think either could be had with one of our relievers and a decent prospect.

If any team wants Bonifacio, they'd probably have to overpay.

The chances of him being traded are so low that I'd say there's probably a better chance Hanley gets traded.

I see Lowrie in the same vein as JJ Hardy.

Good offense paired with average defense. Neither is OMG AMAZING, but they get the job done.

We passed on Hardy last year due to the injury concerns, and look how that turned out....

I believe that's 3.2 oWAR, but only a total of 2.4 WAR overall for 2011. Nonetheless, a fucking STEAL at 400k. He's a switch hitter, good baserunner, and as you point out can play all over the diamond. I'd love to have this guy if the Fish would take Affeldt for him. He's probably a better CF than Melky.

We won't.

That makes sense. I wouldn't be looking to trade him either. How is the Fish's bullpen?

The were in the top 10 in ERA, IP, BAA last year and addressed the closer situation with Bell. They are definitely going to have some decisions on their hands if they sign Pujols. That would leave them with Gaby Sanchez, Emilio Bonifacio and Omar Infante on the bench. Assuming a Coughlan, Morrison and Stanton OF. Bonifacio would be interesting considering he played 67 games at SS last year and every other position besides 1b and catcher. I would think Sabean will talk, but an overpayment is likely if you want him.

After the addition of Bell, right up there with the Braves and Giants for best in the league.

Our only real weakness is starting pitching.

Infante is our starting 2B.
Gaby would be trade bait.

Bonifacio's a utility guy. As it is, he's our CF'er right now.

Coghlan isn't guaranteed a spot on next year's roster. He's been rather terrible since his rookie season.

Such a bad idea on so many levels.

You beef up the Marlins more so than the recent additions already have. If JJ can stay healthy, him and Bum would be a wreaking ball 1/2 R/L combo.

We kill our rotation depth, arguably our best strength, for next season. God forbid Lincecum and Cain walk, then we'd really be screwed.

Not yet, Sparky...sorry...

Bell
Mujica
Cishek
Webb
Dunn
Choate
Badenhop (or LeBlanc)

They might keep Nunez as a setup guy, but I doubt it.

On paper, I don't see why not. I'd say it's pretty comparable to the Giants pen.

I agree. An All-Star closer can certainly turn a slightly above average bullpen into Top 3 in the NL very easily.
