ESPN's Adam Schefter reports there "will be no long-term deal now nor anytime soon" coming from the Redskins for free agent Kirk Cousins.
Schefter continues to be adamant that the two sides are no longer discussing a long-term contract. However, the team and Cousins remain friendly, and there's no contentiousness between the two parties. At this stage, it appears the Redskins will be happy to use the franchise tag on Cousins after his breakout 2015 season and make him prove it again on a one-year deal.
