"Report: NFL approved under-inflated balls from Patriots":

98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich Show” reports that the Patriots turned in their game balls slightly under-inflated and an official — presumably head referee Walt Anderson — signed off on them. The show’s source indicated that a pressure gauge was not used.

Unless the NFL can provide documentation proving that an official stuck a needle inside of each ball and measure the PSI, the league will have a problem on its hands. As we mentioned before, the NFL could be trying to cover for its officials and prove they were not negligent before an important playoff game.

Is the Toucher and Rich Show a reliable source?

If the refs signed off on the balls why did the weigh them again at halftime and make the patriots play with Indianapolis' game balls during the end of the first half?

Maybe that was a lie too.

This from that article too:

'Of course, this report directly conflicts others that we have already shared with you. Ben Volin of the Boston Globe was told that all 48 of the footballs — 12 game balls for each team and 12 backup balls — were tested with a pressure gauge and approved.'

At this point it's hard to believe anything the NFL has said.

this would be like blaming the guy at the checkout counter for not making you pay for the steaks you put on the bottom of your shopping cart. you knew you were stealing them, and made no attempt to pay. the patriots clearly wanted to balls deflated, and didnt expect the refs to notice.

i liked the end of it . it's not cheating if the nfl approves the balls even when you know the rules and cheat .

Yeah, I don't see how this "Clears" the Pats.

Clearly they:
a) underinflated the balls on purpose and hoped the refs wouldn't say anything.
b) deflated them after the refs checked them.
c) had absolutely nothing to do with the entire inflation/deflation.

What do you believe? Right now I have no idea, but IF the Pats are found guilty of tampering with the balls, I would EXPECT Kraft to give a public apology to the nation of ALL football fans, and sell the team.

Personally, I think the Pats (Brady actually) gave the refs some under inflated balls to check, hoping it would pass muster, and they did, until at some point someone wanted them checked closer. Rogers already stated that he had over inflated balls given to the refs to check, hoping they would pass, I suspect other QBs do the same. We are talking about a very minor thing here IMO.

I really hope the Patriots don't think this clears them in anyway.
