My suggestion, in the way of a replacement for Boise State DC Andy Avalos, who is set to at least triple his Boise State salary at Oregon, would be promote from within by naming the recently hired Boise State special teams coach as the new Defensive Coordinator at Boise State. That being Jefff Schmedding - as Schmedding was the Defensive Coordinator at Eastern Washington from 2015 thru 2018 (until he left to come to Boise State).
THEN hire someone else to be the new Special Teams coach.
I've seen where others are suggesting former Boise State player Gerald Alexander as a possibility but Alexander has never been a D.C. anywhere. He's always been a defensive backs coach or a graduate assistant wherever he's been.
Anyone who thinks Boise State can replace Avalos with a former Bronco who is now a DC in the PAC 12 (Kwiatkowski at Washington and Marcel Yates at Arizona) is just plain clueless. Those two are making a LOT more $$$$$$ in their PAC 12 jobs than Boise State can pay them.
