Ah, see... glad I asked... I do not know much at all, I am interested enough to seek out info and pay attention though. Do you know what type or if all three potentially exhibit that behavior? Good stuff.

EDIT: Darkstone, I do not want to take up your time... I enjoy this stuff, I can look up the info on my own... I mean feel free to teach me if you want, but don't take up your time...

None of the reports I read specified which type of neutrino was traveling faster than light, but they were all media reports. If this gets confirmed and put into a scientific journal, I'm sure they'll include more specifics. I also don't know much about neutrinos except they they're leptons and that the three types are electron neutrino, tau neutrino, and muon neutrino. I don't really know what any of them do.

Hi guys
First the disclaimer: I'm not condoning taunting here. Never thought too highly of showing off in sports under any circumstance.

Having said that, though. The guy apologized once he realized he really hurt the kid and that should be enough for the league, the fans and everybody involved. As far as celebrations go, this thing is really tame in comparison to the antics of guys like Tie Domi or the Broad Street Bullies in the 70's. That doesn't make it alright but it doesn't need to get blown way out of proportion either. I hope this kid will be okay but Asham doesn't need to be punished further.

I don't know if there's any truth to it but one thing I heard that bugged me was the Caps players saying stuff like"it wasn't fair, Beagle isn't a fighter". Was that just more stupid ESPN rhetoric? The hi-lite I saw the kid dropped the gloves and threw some punches. That makes him a willing combatant and fair game, in my book. I remember how pissed I was at the stupidity of the Sharks (and media) in the play-offs last year when Marlowe decided to drop them with Bieksa. They didn't have a beef then and the Caps for sure don't have one here.

Did the Sharks/Sharks Media get mad at that fight or was it the national NHL media? I honestly don't know, I was out of town for the last 3 games of the series and didn't read the SJ Merc. Marleau is actually a pretty decent fighter so they shouldn't have been up in arms. Marleau beat the chit out of Ballard when he was with the Coyotes. I'm sure some of the Sharks players were mad just because their friend/teammate got pummeled, but the media shouldn't be mad. Marleau vs. Bieksa wasn't exactly Carcillo vs. Gaborik.

It was more the national media, I think. Namely Versus/NBC and the sharks players went all nuts on the bench talking shit and started doing stupid stuff that cost them that game. That was the stupidest part, for me. Most of the fans were pretty good and saw it as Marleau trying to get his guys going.

I really didn't have a problem with what Asham did after the fight. I think the media is making too big of a deal out of it.

I wonder what Lemieux's reaction would be if it were a Penguins player who'd been knocked out & the opposing player did what Asham did? Then again I think I already know.

Really... This is becoming that big of a deal? Really? :L

This league is going to be such shit in 10 years.

Yupper. He was pumped, it wasn't classy but not a big deal either, and he apologized. But this is the era we live in. There are like 20 sports channels out there covering and talking about sports 24/7. Tons of papers, Web sites, blogs... dare i say, message boards? It's just the era we live in.

You've said hockey is like FIFA and now the league will be shit all in the last week. I think hockey is going to be pretty much the same. I think you're being a shade reactionary here.

With the way people react to things, I see it on a downward spiral.

A downward spiral to where? Guys hit harder than ever - part of the reason for the concerns to be honest. I think the NHL product today is way better than 20 years ago - bigger hits, better passing/moves, faster play, fewer stops. I think it's gotten better (though i do prefer a tie to a SO, but it's a pretty minor thing and even i have to admit SOs have good drama and can be fun).

Good question, 46. I almost added that myself.

Sly, would you like hockey without fighting? Honest question.

lol, of course. I am a fan of the sport first and foremost. But I fear that if they were to eliminate fighting in the NHL, that won't be the only thing leaving the NHL. People wont hit as hard, I just dont seeing it being a good transition.

I know others don't feel the same way, but I think fighting is a must for the game. If the league were to eliminate fighting we'd see a lot more stick work. Plus whenever there's a fight the fans are out of their seats. WE LOVE IT!!
