Other than the Seahawks I can't think of a worse matchup for Griffin to open with. He needs a good game and 4 seconds in the pocket like Foles is getting would go a long way in building confidence and getting the offense on track. Sadly he's going to be doing a lot of chuck and duck.

It's definitely going to be a challenge facing that D. Some of the best pass rushers out there, a great test for us. And it is a tough match up for Griff for game 1. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Jay game plans. Whichever way it falls, it will give us some indicators as to how much this O is gelling...

It's going to be key to have patience with Griff as he progresses into a different style of QB.

Hrm, so other than the defending champs, the team that finished worst in the NFL is the 2nd toughest matchup for us?

Lets not pretend the Texans are a dynamic force. They have one great player and one top rookie at key spots. The rest of that team was dead last in the NFL last year. Realistically, no other team would be a better opener for us than the Texans, and then the Jags. We got lucky on the schedule there.

I'd add that, if Jay Gruden can't scheme to neutralize two pass rushers having Trent Williams on his own side, we got bigger problems than just Game 1.

The Texans have been perennial playoff contenders until they fell off the cliff last night. Again my point was Griffin needs a game to get comfortable and to build confidence. Facing a defense with not just JJ Watts and Clowney but also Cushing and several other good players is not exactly a way to erase that last bad game and quiet the critics.
