Not gonna hold you to this. You know how this board can be, but out of Drake, Caleb, and Jayden, who is the best fit for this type of offense?
Williams and Maybe have experience running it .... Howell too. I think Daniels could run it. I think Williams just added a team to his "i'll go there" list. He seems to love Kliff. Recent years scare me when it comes to DMV guys.

This is where Adam needs to pay off. William is a trade up. I don't love Williams height. I don't pay attention to the other shit, Adam ad Dan need to do that.

Heard today that the original list of teams he was willing to play for was before Dan sold the team.

Suppose williams wants to come here and peters, Quinn, and kingsbury are aligned. Suppose he is #1 on our board as well.

Will Chicago try to rip us off and demand the moon to move up? They aren't going to do us any favors, but it would be absurd for them to to try to fleece us knowing that williams doesn't want to play for their team.

I don't think wiliams tells chicago he won't play for them, but I do think Chicago is smart and can read the room. They don't want a qb at #1 who doesn't want to be there, but they also know they have a chance to obtain more draft capital.

I think peters will be smart here and give a fair offer that will benefit both teams. It's all speculation of course but my gut tells me Chicago is going to ask for the moon at first and peters will play hardball....as he should.
Hopefully we simply give them the sweat pick back but I think it will take more. Who knows?

Bad teams make bad decisions, so hopefully chicago makes a bad decision and settles for less...lol

Bears gave the 49ers to move up one slot for Trib a 3rd and 4th that year plus a 3rd the next year. That was going from #3 to #2. So i don't know if the price is higher for #2 to #1.

It's really going to depend on other teams. If GM's catch wind that the Bears want to move out of #1, a bidding war will take place. If that happens, the price goes way up.

On a Bears podcast last night, they were talking the #2, both 2nd round picks, and 2025 #1. It just depends on who else jumps in.

If they play hard ball, using other teams, I'd try to call their bluff and mention to them that we know you don't want to move past #3 because you want MHJ. Cards ain't trading for Caleb. That leaves the Skins and Pats.

My money is still on the Bears selecting Caleb, but if he makes a big enough stink you never know. Bears staff already knows the fans want MHJ and want nothing to do with Caleb. Fields has that locker room. His teammates have shown public support for him.

Peters is on record saying he wants to build through the draft. That could be looked at as not going big in FA or not making a trade that will at the very least cost you your 2025 #1.

I don't want to put words in Keim's mouth but on his pod he didn't dismiss the Caleb talk. Also mentioned how Drake and Howell really fit Kingsbury's offense. No mention of Jayden.

I AM NOT SAYING KEIM SAID WE ARE NOT DRAFTING JAYDEN DANIELS.

Caleb is going to cost. There is a small part of me that feels Harris and Peters would love to make a splash like that, especially with the narrative, right or wrong, that they fumbled the coaching search.

would a second round pick be worth moving from 2 to 1?

i could see yes being the correct answer.
Absolutely, if you feel Caleb is special.

that would be crazy that trade offer on the Bears podcast. Lets see if the Bears trade Fields first.

I agree..it would.

I dont know if the conversion works out for compensation...i honestly don't.

It would make sense for a lesser than fair value package if

Commanders want williams badly
Williams wants to go to DC badly
Williams tells CHI he wants to go to DC badly

Not saying that package requirement is completely made up or false reporting, but that would be insanity to give up two 2nd round 2024 picks and a 2025 1st rounder.

I would be disappointed and that would cripple us for a while.

Chicago is not known for having a solid front office so I am not sure they ask for the moon. Maybe they do.

I agree that other teams calling drives up the price. That being said, if the cost to move up 1 spot is astronomical, the cost to move up multiple spots would be devastating.

I guess it comes down to

What Chicago wants?
Do we feel williams is a generational talent?

That would be way too much for me as well. I'd be pissed if they did that. Let's say for arguments sake, Caleb is Mahomes. I doubt it, but if he is, what would you be willing to pay for a HOF top 10 all-time QB. That type of player is priceless. What say you though?

Look the bears would be absolutely stupid to pass on Williams .
Trading up to “make a splash “ is bad business .

You can’t build through the draft and not have draft picks

Maye or Daniel’s would thrive in a Kingsbury offense . Howell would as well

It doesnt seem like a particularly hard decision for the Commanders to me (caveat: not a GM, obviously):

If the Bears keep Fields, they're not taking a qb. That means they're taking MHJ.
If the Bears trade Fields, then Williams will probably make his feelings known. If he does, then the Bears aren't taking him either.
If the Bears trade down to somebody who does want Williams, then take MHJ and have Kingsbury work with Howell who already has experience in the Air Raid.

if the Bears initiate trade talks with the Commanders and ask for the ridiculous amount of capital they presumably asked for above, then say "no thanks" and draft MHJ.

As long as the Commanders would be psyched to get any two players, there's no reason to negotiate trading up with Chicago at all, and I'm not sure why they wouldn't be psyched to land at least one of the qbs OR MHJ.

We are aligned as usual...lol

I thought of mahomes actually..lol

If we had a crystal ball, that would make all the difference.

I am guessing Chicago tries to take peters for a ride, but that is my opinion.
The sweat pick...#36, is the starting point.
In all honesty, Chicago knows williams doesn't want to play there, and they know they will literally get the player they still want at #2 plus the 36th pick.

It's a win win to be honest. I don't care what the value chart says, it's fair to me.

Peters can even be honest and say "look, williams doesn't want to go to Chicago and we all know that". "Take the 36th and get your player you want who wants to play in Chicago at #2"
