If KC waits to sign the tag until right before the season starts, and is a $35M backup for a year, how likely is it that he has his pick of destinations NEXT year? Isn't this "the greatest qb draft of the past 20 years?"

Sitting on the bench, turning 30, not playing at all, and expecting a huge contract NEXT offseason?
He'll miss out on some jobs, but others will open that aren't really open now--like Jacksonville. After 2018, Bortles' deal expires and Cousins could walk in as the starter on a ready-made playoff team.

As for him being 30, that's being overblown. So many of KC's detractors want to point out how "old" he is. He's 3 months older than Russel Wilson. Smh.

They stopped using the O word in reference to Cousins the moment it was announced that Washington had traded for the CDC (Check Down Charlie)

Note to @skinsdad62 I have already filed for a board patent on the CDC nickname. :D

Signed or not the CBA specifically states the Tag designations can be rescinded at any time. However, to be fair, would you post a link that says they can't, or direct me to that part of the CBA that says it can't be done after a player signs the tag. Thanks.
Look at the 3 links I gave you in post #154. I reposted them below. Not to sound harsh, but Read Them This Time!

"The amount of the franchise tender becomes fully guaranteed once the player signs it. ...The risk is that the franchise tag can be withdrawn, at any time, before it has been signed. (And the author of that one is a labor lawyer) 10 things to know about the franchise tag

"It can't be rescinded once it's signed." Everything you need to know about the NFL's 2017 franchise tag

And another one, What to know about NFL franchise tag designations

Think about it, the only franchise tenders that have been rescinded were all in cases where the player had not signed the tag. Corey Simon, Jeremiah Trotter, and Josh Norman.

Honestly I challenge you to find a single article that agrees with your interpretation. If you can’t find one, there is a reason for it.

You have the link to the CBA, show me anywhere in it that says that they cannot rescind the FT designation AFTER it is signed.
I love you, bro, but you’ve got this one mixed up.

See if you can smell where I'm coming from.

1. The CBA says that a “Tender” can be rescinded at any time. Art.10, section 2(d)

2. The CBA says that once the player accepts the “Tender”, it becomes a “Player Contract.” Art.10, section 2(c)

3. The CBA does NOT say that a “Player Contract” can be rescinded at any time

4. Article 4 governs "Player Contracts". Article 10 governs Franchise/Transition tags and tenders.

5. The CBA says that the “resulting Player Contract shall be fully guaranteed” Art.10, section 2(c)

6. The CBA does NOT say that the “Player Contract” shall become fully guaranteed in July

7. The only mention of July in relation to the FT/Tenders say that any team that has tagged a player has until until 4:00 p.m. (ET), on July 15 to sign the player to a multiyear contract or extension. Art.10, section 2(k)

Only Tenders can be rescinded at any time. Once the Tender is signed, it becomes a Player Contract--i.e., once the Tender is signed, it's no longer a Tender.

Figured that it was so over the top, and so was mine. Just hoping the Eagles would do something that would handcuff them for a decade.
:suds:

Wait.. you think the Eagles are going to hire Bruce AND Vinny?? :suds:

Thanks, I asked for clarification on this and got plenty. My boy @Shark put me back on the path, but like I said I appreciate and appreciated all of the help on this one.

You guys aren't going to like this because I was very happy to see Philadelphia celebrate and to see my cousins at the parade. I haven't rooted for the Iggles since the early 60s but I was rooting for them in this Super Bowl.

Who wouldn't want a QB nicknamed Big Rick Nick!!! That is too funny. :pound::pound::pound:

Fuck the Eagles. I can't recall ever rooting for them, but if I had, surely it had to be of benefit for the Skins. After seeing Foles' presser after the Vikings game though. I got to thinking back to the KFFL days and the best board on KFFL was the Eagles board and I liked a lotta Eagles posters. Iggs, enut, mannyz, ForWhoForWhat, Erk, and DB. Speaking of which, congrats @DutchBird. Great win for you guys . I knew I forgot someone in the game thread. My bad. Enjoy it, man. The way the Eagles are set up they have a better than decent shot at winning another one or more in the next 5 years or so. There's something special though winning the first one.

This is why Alex Smith is known as checkdown Charlie.

Perhaps and I also was of a mind that Smith played too safe at times to his and his team's detriment in the past. That said, he didn't play like that last year. He put the ball down the field and he did so accurately and with a frequency that he hasn't done before.

I hope that trend continues is all.

I understand that. Even last year though, his average air yards were fairly low, even though he threw deep more often. He checks down a whole lot.

Thanks...

Yeah, a long time ago, the KFFL board... and few of them around.

Somehow I prefer Smith over Cousins (who for some reason seemed to kill us every single time). I am also confident that Dan Snyder will continue to reduce the Redskins to a train wreck. Maybe not as bad as the 'dream team' he bought in the early 2000's (the one that got the broken ankles by McNabb), but still bad...

Breed , CDC is my way of sticking it to the puppets . i dont mind smith the qb and if these guys would just come out and "really " admit they didnt want KC under any circumstances instead of the fake BS they run every week then i would simply swallow hard the awful trade and cut them some slack

however for 3 years they broke down every pass , sentence , and word KC made and now the shoe is about to be on the other foot . so dont take it all to the bank as gospel on my real feelings
