That was what I said at the time. But that's apparently the case. Here is an article discussing the change to anything like Red Wolvesm the same issue applies to Warriors.

Once we began looking into Wolves, however, we became aware of a notable challenge: trademarks held by other teams would limit our ability to make the name our own. And without Wolves, variations like RedWolves wouldn't have been viable either for these and other reasons.

I'm not a fan of change in sports, so to me they are the Redskins. It's just a name and while in retrospect it can be seen that way, it wasn't meant to be insulting. Take all this effort and money about the name and put it towards helping the current indigenous people if you are so upset with how they were treated. It's not like they want to be called the "Washington Murderous Savages". Maybe they should go with the "Provocative Indigenous People"

We have? I haven't seen that joke before.... Washington Potatoes. And the joke doesn't make sense anyway.

Now... according to this map Washington DC doesn't grow potatoes... so the joke really doesn't work, but I can't fault the poster for trying... clearly potato was meant to be an insult and you took offense, but I thought I'd clarify to the forum and yourself that it indeed doesn't make sense.
