Redskins are back?

Again, to be clear here, the OP is a little misleading. No one is talking about bringing back the name Redskins. What is apparently on the table is bringing back the logo of the Native American (which no one opposed or considered disrespectful).

I do think the name Redskin is racist. If you read about the history of the term, it is crystal clear that it was a derogatory term, even if not all Native Americans took offense to it being on a football team logo. For a lot of Native Americans, the name and logo were cool, because they validated their existence and they were personally fans (and let's face it, the team used to be very good back in the Jack Kent Cooke era).

But who cares what they think. Football is an American sport not a Native sport. The 49ers and Cowboys should be a hell of a lot more offensive than the Redskins.

it don't matter to me, they all stink in our Nations Capitol. Blind leading the blind and nobody has a single finger in anyones belt loop.

The Chiefs are winning and still have fan support. Snyder kept The Redskins in the dumps for twenty years until fans stopped caring about the team. When sponsors started to feel pressure from groups, they pulled threatened to pull ads which made Snyder have to change the name to keep revenue coming in.

That isn't going to happen to KC because they're popular; The Blackhawks because they're still riding off of their 10's dynasty and if any sponsors pull out others will gladly step in to cash in because there's a passionate fan base who will rally around those teams. Snyder atrophied The Redskins base with constant losing and no hope in sight of change so there was support to back up the franchise.

Well according to the history of the franchise Lamar Hunt actually named the team what he did for a political friend of his, who's nickname happened to be Chief...

Also 'chief' and 'Blackhawk' simply aren't offensive the way 'redskin' is.
