I see what your saying, and find no fault in your reasoning.....however.....as we all know, there is no guarntee....that pick could be a bust......no we move back some slots in the 2nd, maybe get 2nd round picks, or a 2nd and 3rd...then well we can get 2 starters....plenty of starters to be had in the 3rd too...plenty.....I rememebr Devin Thomas was a high 2nd and he sucked!!!!

I have no problmes stayign put and using the selection.....but I wouldnt be opposed to moving back and acquiring additional hi round picks as well....

Thomas was a Cerrato pick so that is your answer there. If we can drop back 5 or so slots and get a 3rd rounder, I am for it of course. My point is that we need to draft for impact players, not depth at this point. Its just the sad state the team is in right now. I would honestly rather have 2 first round picks and 1 second rounder and forget the rest of the draft. Again, I don't think some of you really understand how bad this team is. We are literally the worst team in the NFL. I think some of you believe we a mediocre team snake bitten with injuries. Nothing could be further from the truth.

All moot points Mike Shanahan returns next season......Dammit, We can't catch a break!!!! He'll draft a kicker, CB and long snapper thinking that these are the missing pieces. Then convert the kicker to TE, the CB to DE and the long snapper to QB..........geeeeeezzz!!!!

You know what.... Before the last draft I said this almost word for word (after your point about getting a third rounder) and got pilloried by posters on the old ESPN site. Every year is filled with hope by fans everywhere of the NFL. That hope blinds people to what's right in front of them. The team is not snake bitten (although I do wish they would change the nickname) It just doesn't have the talent to compete in our division, which traditionally has been stocked with teams that relied on power, not gimmicks.

The list is intriguing. Honestly, Jairus Byrd is very high on this list because we need safety help. Period. No one knows what kind of player Phillip Thomas will be. He's virtually a rookie. I'm not sure Meriweather will be back. Bacarri Rambo needs to learn how to play the position a little better, as well. At CB, I've continuously heard Aqib Talib's name come up. He's a good player, but I believe he'll want too much. If so, pass!!! I believe DeAngelo Hall is definitely worth re-signing. He'll be a starter again. Honestly, I believe David Amerson had a good enough rookie campaign for him to be counted on as a starter, next year.

At MLB, I see us re-signing Perry Riley. Other MLB's were mentioned. However, what happens if we run a 4-3? Instead of needing another MLB, we'll need one or two more OLB's because Rak and Kerrigan would likely move to DE. If we stay at 3-4, Pat Angerer is at the top of my list. With him, I think we don't miss a beat by losing London Fletcher. I like Donald Butler, as well.

At this point, I'd take any of those OT's. They all are better than Tyler Polumbus. Nuff said. At DT, Cam Thomas and Linval Joseph are solid. Pick one! WRs were not mentioned. We've got to get another WR. Pierre Garcon balled, this year. We know that. However, he is likely to face a lot of double-teams, next year. Therefore, another WR is needed to open things up. Eric Decker is intriguing, but I'm wondering if his success is more because of him or Peyton Manning. Of course, the same was said about Garcon. I like Hakeem Nicks, but he might want too much money. No need to put too much money at the WR position, when that is not our biggest problem.

my feeling is we should target young Fa's under age 28 and avoid big name guys on the downside of their careers

this will be telling as to whom is really calling the shots

It seems to me that we need a FS and an OL more than anything. I like T.J. Ward, but I like Jairus Byrd a little bit better. However, Byrd might want way too much money. Asamoah at guard would be what the doctor ordered. I am not sold on Chris Chester or Lichtensteiger. Either one of them can go. At WR, I like Andrew "The Hawk" Hawkins. I remember when he killed us in the 2012 season, when we played them. That was actually my first time seeing him play. Depending on what we do with Hall, I'd take Verner or Munnerlyn. I believe Munnerlyn is unsung and will come cheaper. Plus, he can return punts. I believe David Amerson is going to be a good player, so I believe there will be no need for two starting free agent CBs. He had a pretty good rookie year. Obviously, we can't sign all of these guys on the list. It all boils down to what we need the most.

Oh please. The difference in talent between all NFL teams is not that great. So even if the Skins are the worst team in the NFL (which they are not) a turnaround is likely & it is actually very possible for them to be in contention once again as early as next season. Remember - they were a playoff team just one year ago - did they suddenly become the "worst team in the NFL"? Give me a break.

They have talent at most of the skill positions on offense but mainly need help on the O-line (save for LT). That doesn't mean that you have to significantly upgrade all four remaining positions. Even a major upgrade at one position will make a huge difference. If RG3 prepares & improves his game it will be that much better.

The defense needs a lot more help. However - they have talent at most LB positions, on some of the D-line & possibly to a degree at CB. Several of the younger players may also develop over time (at least in a backup capability). Adding a few significant upgrades at D-line & in the secondary could make a huge difference.

I see three things that provide hope in this area - 1. Increased cap space - should provide a few studs as well as backup help needed when injuries occur 2. better coaching in some areas should help with player development needed for younger players & 3. As mentioned above - they were a playoff team a year ago so obviously they have some talent.

Go ahead & tell us how the sky is falling. I choose to believe otherwise - should be interesting this offseason.

i think we should sign young guys entering their prime . fill the needs with the guy when he becomes available then try to clean it up with the draft

First things first I would resign Orakpo, Hall, and Riley.

Then I wouldnt mind looking at

Hakeem Nicks (potentially affordable due to injuries)
Talib (probably expensive but worth a shot)
Byrd
a quality starter somewhere on the Oline (not sure who exactly would be the right fit)
