Dude has been monye for the Reds off the bench.

With Frazier playing as well as he has this year (though struggling lately) whoever ends up on the bench greatly increases the bench strength, which at one point was abysmal.

If they are smart, they'll keep Meso over Cairo for the playoff roster. Not because of what Meso brings, but because of what he allows: Navarro to be used as a PH. If they keep Cairo, they will PH Cairo because Dusty won't risk using Navarro and then not having a catcher on the bench. But, who is the better PH? Navarro. It's not even a debate. Keeping Meso allows you to keep a catcher on the bench, and use Navarro as a switch-hitting PH guy off the bench.

I mean, if it comes down to leaving Navarro on the bench and PH cairo or carrying Meso so you can PH Navarro, the choice is pretty clear, which means we'll probably see Cairo on the roster and hear some BS about his "experience" despite is .150 average.

This clinching loss puts a nice bookend on the 20-year jinx, which started with a former Pirate scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 9th in game 7 of the NLCS. Next year, next year.

The final series of the regular season starts tonight at St Louis.....the dirty birds have a two game lead over LA for the final wildcard, so we still have a chance to be the instrument of their demise, though percentages are greatly against it....would be way cool to sweep them out of the playoffs.....

Great news tonight!!! Chappy has found his heater!! Every single pitch in tonight's save was at least 100mph, and he hit 102 several times.....

Latos did his thing as well!!

Latos rocked, and that was great too considering his past history vs the dirty birds has not been so good.....I'm thinking it was more poor timing than anything else, because the way he's throwing now nobody is hitting him....:drink:

Why the fuck is Dusty not pitching Bailey game 2? It's been well established how much better he is on the road. Instead he's got him slated for game 4 at home.

I'd be shocked if there were a game 4. I think we get embarrassed again.

They certainly are a resilient bunch.... They made their run this season without their superstar, they clinched while their coach was in the hospital, and now this. Hopefully they can keep the momentum.

They have the deepest pitching staff in the history of their franchise.....two guys who contributed greatly during the season didn't even make the NLDS roster......more and better pitching is always the answer......
