$900 for the season, which includes uniforms, helmet, bag,10 tournaments, and a league

says he cant afford it, so i kick in $300 and the coach kicks in $300. we ask for the other $300 and they say they cant afford it

thats what we get getting a kid from the hood

Let me guess: he was your best player? Your team is doomed...although I saw a movie once where a Golden Retriever filled in and played pretty well. Can you try that out?

I'm not devaluing him but allot of fans are going to get even madder if we pretend like we're contending for the division and end up losing him to free agency. If he's smart, and I think he is, he'll wait for free agency and get $100M. That is if he can bust out of this 1-25 slump and get back to at least .290 on the season.

If the Padres could replace our two worst starting pitchers with >3 ERA lefties, we'd instantly be contending in the NL West. We're close as it is.

Wouldn't it be wise of them to invest one big money deal into a "face of the franchise" option like Headley, or is that not even being considered

Sorta like the Mets with David wright

Snoogs, ONE OF THE BEST is at least argueable.

THE BEST? C'mon...

If your "best" list contains just 5 names...i can't see anything but haterade keeping Brady out of that conversation...

"THE BEST"...certainly arguable...but it's a very short list...

I can't wait for him the defense to be given 100% of the credit while people ignore how great a defense Montana had in his title years..

And the only reason it's even up for debate? Because Asante Samuel and Wes Welker hated catching balls that hit them square in the mitts...

We certainly agree on the Welker thing. Second biggest drop in Super Bowl history.

I'm okay with a Top-5... but Joe Montana will most likely never be toppled.... by anyone.

Umm, you're forgetting one Reginald Martinez Jackson...

Yeah....did he have an arm like those other guys?? He was a bit before my time. By the time I was watching him, he was on the Angels and making cameos in The Naked Gun.

Actually, no, Chap. Reg was less than stellar out there.

They're not my words...

And Brady's combination of stats, wins, rings and MVPs... Nobody piles it on as high and deep as he does.

snoogins

hes in the discussion for best all time, and if he didnt lose 2 to the giants...he is without a doubt arguably the best to ever take a snap

as he stands today, top 5-7 all time (closer to top 5)

if he wins one more, top 3 without argument...but montana never lost a big game

the first giants loss was the killer, especially the point production

at some point you have to blame the man with the happy feet who hates pressure

granted those 2 plays could have drastically changed things...but, it is what it is

Horseshit

His average run of postseason play since 2006 coupled with 2 SB losses removed him from any all time best discussions. I mean the Very Best, still in a Top 5-10 discussion

You dont keep losing every January and move "up" the ladder

I'm not going on all day about it, that's just a fact

Headley isn't a "face of the franchise guy". He's a pretend version. They had their shot with Adrian Gonzalez (and maybe even Jake Peavy). The Padres trade their players before they get too expensive. That's just how it works.

Headley is a face of the franchise the same way Jayson Werth is, you know? Yankees will probably sign him this offseason. You can never have too many 3B!

If Brady wins #4?

And before you compare Montana's 4-0 to Brady 4-2, let me offer that you'd essentially be rewarding Montana for losing in the playoffs (before the superbowl) more often than Brady...

Where I come from? Getting further is better...

But I agree...right now it's Montana #1...

hes top 5 right now IMO, if he wins another, in the debate for best all time

my feelings on this are far from new

Slumps are allowed

Hafner looked dead also, had a couple of big hits last couple games
