Is it BJGE, Gio, Burkhead on the roster no questions asked?

Gio is a lock, and BJGE is almost a lock.

BJGE and Gio are locks. From the game yesterday Burkhead looked the next best. It then comes down to Peerman and Boom. I prefer Boom.

I guess the Bernard Scott era is over. If they do keep a 4th back I can't see it being a player who doesn't contribute much on ST

It's not clear to me why Burkhead would be before either Peerman or Boom. Peerman has been a key player on special teams the last two seasons and Boom showed some real talent in the same regard last year. Burkhead is an athletically limited player that happens to be friends with a kid with cancer.

Burkhead's getting good reviews in camp and the Bengals spent a draft pick on him this year.

I wouldn't call him a lock, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't have the inside track on a roster spot now

Speaking of Caucasian "try hard" RBs, the Bucs are using Leonard on the field as a FB for Martin. That could be a good role for him. great reciever out of the backfield

I don't think they will get rid of Peerman. He is too valueable to the passing game, the running game as a backup, special teams with the guy that takes our fake punts, he makes tackles on kickoffs.

I say they keep 5 RB's and I do not think they can stash any on practice squad without them getting taken.

Don't get me wrong.... I'd love for the guy to make it. But the third running back will be used almost exclusively as a special teams player. That's a role in which Peerman and Boom have thrived.

Burkhead played on ST against Atlanta and was the first man down the field, making a tackle on a punt I believe.

It's a great and highly unusual problem for lifelong Bengal fans to have.

Bengals usually keep 4 backs.

I have to believe that Burkhead is looking at the PS, as the Bengals will hope they can get him through waivers. I don't see him unseating proven S.T. guys like Peerman or Herron, who have actual game experience compared to Burkheads' pre-season tackle on S.T.

Does Herron still have practice squad eligibility? If not, he would still seem to be the odd man out. Burkhead has really been impressive. Hard to believe RB has suddenly become a position of strength after several years as a weakness. Green-Ellis is fine as a rotation guy with strengths as a goal line and short yardage guy, Gio has incredible potential. Often someone gets hurt at rb and that settles it.

I would ratheave Burkhead than Herron to be honest. Burkhead can be a good special teams player.

Plus, I would like to see a future with Bernard and Burkhead in the same backfield on several plays in that old JET formation we used to use in the 80's and run with either of them, or throw to either one of them, as they are both good hands guys, good runners, and Burkhead has a little power.

Why do you think Burkhead is better than Herron? They had very similar college stats, rushing and receiving, and Herron actually had a better draft grade than Burkhead. They are basically the same size and Boom is faster than Rex. The only real difference is NFL experience -- In this case Boom has already displayed the ability to be a key piece on special teams.

Because Burkhead seems to have a drive about him where he refuses to go down. That old Leonard attitude. He also seems to break tackles better already from what I can tell in just one small preseason game. I never cared for Herron that much, I always thought Saine was a much better RB.

I just like Burkhead better.

I just find it amusing that so many people love Rex.... He's easily destined to become the new DeDe.
