I can't help but think when I see the Ravens play (not often) that Robert has to be sitting there saying I am a dumb ass, this could have been me. I think LJ is much further along that Griffin was. And I will be the first to admit I was wrong about the QBs of today ... ones that can run and throw.Couldn’t remember the last time we played the Ravens.
Then saw this. That hit on RG3. The toll of many hits to come for a talented phenom that gave this franchise the most exciting year it had seen in ages. Lord was he talented. The constant worry that Robert would never learn to protect himself. The braggadocio and the dysfunctional relationship with owner and coaches. The inevitable QB controversy as play and injuries mounted. Fun times.
Beginning of the end of RG3 in DC, but we didn’t know how bad it was gonna get at this point.
Glad he’s found a spot, still in the football world, that seems to make him happy and content.
I still thank him for the one bright year in 2012 that we’ve seen in 20 plus years of misery.
How can you not watch Wilson, Mahomes, Watson, LJ and whoever I am forgetting and not think that is the future of the league? Just like Robert did in 2012 he put defenses in conflict as to what was coming next. Sadly he made a big mistake turning back into the middle of the field right into a 300+ guy coming like a locomotive. Robert did not learn that ... in time anyhow and then he wanted to change who he was and the owner agreed with him. Not smart on either of their parts.
I watch the guys I listed above and they get what they can get and get down or get out of bounds.
As for the 2012 season ... I'll always say Cousin's was a big part of that season on a smaller scale. He brought the team back against Baltimore and he was the QB who beat Cleveland. I always thought in the playoff game where Griffin got the team off to a lead but was clearly hurt after that ... that pulling Robert and putting Cousin's in would have given them a better chance to win at that point. It might have saved Robert's knee too although he may well have hurt in the next week if the Skins could have maintained that lead.
Sadly Robert hurt himself and Dan aided him all the way. That is a damned shame.
