Ian Rapoport:

Another player on the block, according to @NFL execs: #49ers RB Anthony Dixon. In a RB-needy league, he’s only making $630,000. We’ll see

This made me laugh. I'm sorry.

This might make some sense as to why he's been getting more carries. I assumed we were resting Frankie.

If Peyton Hillis can start Dixon is a consideration.......really.

And I'm not laughing or didn't laugh because I'm assuming the 49ers feel like they can or will get anything for him like some people might think the 49ers think. Just the idea that HIS NAME is even out there in the news is kind of funny to me.

Is Baalke trying to own the entire 7th round?

He won't win GM of the year this year but he'd get a number of points in my standings if he could get a 7th for Anthony freaking Dixon!

Does this mean that Lattimore is close to joining the roster? Or are they just trying to create space for Manningham/Crabtree/Tank?

Create space and instead of activating Dixon we would activate James on game days.

One of the few useless players on our roster this year. I'd much rather them give his carries to Miller or LMJ.

Why not try to make a trade? We have Gore, Hunter, James, Dixon, Lattimore, and Hampton next year. You have to figure Lattimore will be on the roster next year which means either Gore, Hunter, James, or Dixon is gone anyway. Why not try to dangle Dixon out there for a RB needy team? I think they should take offers on Hunter or James though. They don't need both as they are both very similar players.

Useless? As a RB maybe, but he's a great special teams player. And he's a good locker room guy if I heard right.

...Looks like Calamity beat me to this post.

How are they similar?

For the record I wanted Greg Hardy with that pick instead of Dixon. :(

How are they similar?

Similar in size and skill. Hunter might be better between the tackles but James is probably the quicker of the two and better outside. James can also play special teams as a returner.

Hunter is the better every down type of back out of the two though I would not want either as the main back. If neither are going to be the main guy going forward why keep both? Out of Dixon, James, and Hunter you have to figure Hunter has the most value. If a team was desperate enough to offer a 3rd or better we should consider it.
